Couldn't they do a phased rebuild with a new design starting with the Peter Taylor stand? Maybe some innovation in the overall design.
...and gradually do each stand in this way filling in the corners as they go..?
Or a ground share with County (unlikely) for a couple of seasons while it...Knock it all down and rebuild from scratch. : o

Financially speaking I’m sure the economical best option would be a new build somewhere. On the other hand though those kind of stadium take a long time to give a return.
We’re in such an iconic location I think it’s be better to beef up the CG as best we can and just maximise the potential of this site. Surely a better short term option concentrate on getting corporate facilities up to premium standard. It’s not like we’re exactly over capacity at the moment. I think a similar approach to Liverpool is fine.
Also we can potentially increase the capacity in the future if safe standing ever gets legalised which given the recent petition is becoming more and more likely

They are improving the area around the City Ground, and making the Riverside a great place to visit. Having our stadium next to that should be good for the club.
Shame Marinakis didn't get in on the action, I know the Americans who tried to buy us did.

I suppose we will never find out now Widdow what the true intentions were of the Americans.
Sometimes I got the impression that they were more interested in the developments around the City Ground than in the club itself.
I would take investment in the team over investment in the surrounding area any day.
Being greedy, it would be great to have both.

I am not an expert but try, write post then click Preview, you then have the option to choose file, you can browse your computer for whatever photo you want to post, there is a size limit though

I wondered about the rotate the pitch option too, also could potentially buy the bit of land between the ground and Lady Bay bridge, seems to be ised as a storage depot and environment agency building? We missed an opportunity with the Riverside development for sure, there was definitely something fishy about the JJMoores bid though.
Any development like this would mean a total rebuild, not sure if that is financially or logistically feasible.

My concern is that if we are to start the redevelopment of the ground once we are in the PL our capacity will be a real issue.

We are talking about major redevelopments but the intial post in this thread referred to the acadamy and simply replacing the roof on the PT stand. I assume any further work is dependent upon promotion but maybe not committing to any kind of rebuilding is a sign they are still open to moving rather than renovation, Would get round the capacity issues,
