It'd be good if we could compromise with a 1 year deal which automatically extends if he plays enough games.

It's not really a problem for me.
He's 35 next month, if we are still in the Championship I doubt he could physically maintain the form to take us up.
He's been a great player for the club, definitely a HIT!
I have no qualms with him moving on, Forest have a terrible history of hanging on to players for too long.

He's showing no signs of slowing down. He has started every league game this season and been Mr. Consistency. We should definitely keep him. Even if the unlikely scenario that we will play PL football next season should materialize.

If Forest get promoted and Watson is still on the books he will either be loaned out or sit the season barely making the bench.
He has been a good player for Forest but we've got to know when it's time to end these relationships, same for Colback, gotta move on and stop looking back.

All that happens is we start heading back to squads of 30+ players.

Not saying that he will start every game in the PL but he will be an important player that will bring continuity which will be crucial if Forest are to survive in the PL.

Lamouchi loves Watson and while Lamouchi is our manager Watson will get games if he signs a new contract.

I believe you are right Sniffer.

What about Dawson. One year contract or let him go?

Keep him on for a year.  He could well be our next, or next but one manager.

Keep him for another year and get him coaching in the youth team setup.

I would also like to keep him for another year and develop his coaching skills.

I am really surprised that anyone would question Watson deserving another contract. He has never once looked like his legs have gone and has been the backbone of our best season in years. If he can cut it whilst he is 35, starting every league game, then dont see why he can't do the same whilst he is 36 or 37? He clearly looks after himself.
Dawson is one of our own and started the season like Watson. Our defence looked at it's most secure in those early months when the Dawson Worrall partnership was blooming. The injury and then the Sheff Weds game on his return meant Figs has established himself. Probably not as effective as Daws was, but still deserved to keep his place. A bit torn as Figs is not averse to picking up knocks. Would Benalouane come in from the freezer?

A few rumours flyong around about Watson.

Some saying he is injured, some saying he's not playing because of a contract issue and some even suggesting that he has Coronavirus.

I would be more inclined to think it is a contract matter rather than an injury, I am forever sceptical!

Forest would have to report it if he had coronavirus, so that rules that out!

Huddlestone at Derby now having that problem. Looks like he won't play for them again.

I've been thinking about this contract dispute business keeping him out. I thought at first this is why he'd been left out but then I read he'd signed an extension to his contract till the end of the season. So if he's been prepared to do that then he must be prepared to play again (a lot of out of contract players aren't). And, I can 't see Sabri overlooking him due to a contract dispute. He idolises him.

My theory is that it's all innocent and he just needs a couple more weeks than the youngsters do to get fit.
