RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - northeastred - 30-03-2021

In 16/17 they sold 49 players @48m and brough in 44 @12m

All my posts the first set of numbers is what they made, the second is what they spent

RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - Salvatore Matrecano - 30-03-2021

Not sure where you got those figures NER but we never brought in 49 and sold 44 in a single season. Are you looking at a rolling 3 years or maybe that is total playing staff?

Regardless the turnover rate of our squad is ridiculously high and is one of the reasons IMO why we havent moved forward despite the huge expenditure.

Those figures seem way out.

Olympiakos make about 30M in income just from qualifying for the Champions League and then failing to get out of their group and going into the Europa league. That is without even selling anyone (which they do every year for millions), then there is TV money, gate receipts, club shop, sponsorship, ground advertising, etc etc.

RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - northeastred - 30-03-2021

Them stats are for olympiakos over the past 4 years, i got the info off transfermarkt.. sorry if its a dud site. Was just trying to help out :)

RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - northeastred - 30-03-2021

The stats were just off player incomings and depatures alone

No worries Northeastred. Thanks for your input.

Just as a basis of comparison.

SA.

It’s like comparing apples with oranges. Nearly all Championship clubs pay more in wages than they bring in, and most make huge losses every season. An owner can’t reasonably make a fist of owning a Championship club without having to pump in many millions. Forest aren’t unusual in that respect, although importantly we are predicted to comply with ffp again.

Olympiakos on the other hand are the best club in Greece by far and benefit from Champions League revenue every season.

And see it from the average Oly fan's perspective. How many more players would they be able to bring in if the owner wasn't throwing money at some 2nd rate English club.

It's an interesting contrast.

Nearly £200 million that could have gone into Oly's club.  If I was an Oly' fan...

To get Forest competitive again (ie. Clough level and back into the Premiership, the old 1st Division), it's taken £168 million, several managers, a legion of mediocre players, two clubs, with one club being leveraged (players and expertise) backed by an owner with really deep pockets.

And Forest sit top of the bottom 7.  A way short of Norwich who themselves were a long way off being a competitive Premier side.  (I almost typed 'Shide' ;)

It's taken alot of off the field work to get Forest this far.  And we've lent on the one 'good' thing Forest had, the Academy, to sell players to keep Forest FFP compliant.

I don't doubt the current owners want Forest in the Gravy League.  Or that they're in it for the long term.  It just shows the sheer inertia of Forest's fall from grace and the fickleness of the football fates.

Hopefully with Hughton and this Summer's recruitment they've learned their 'short terms' lessons.

The Championship.  A different sort of league.  Needing a particular kind of manager and a certain type of player.

SA.

Olympiakos are bound by UEFA’s ffp. I’m sure EM would love to throw many more millions at them but he is prevented from doing so by the regulations.

Throwing millions at Forest takes absolutely nothing away from his ownership of Oly.

RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - Salvatore Matrecano - 12-05-2021

Just seen this around the club refusing to pay the living wage and copied from Nottingham Post, was from a few days ago. I am very uncomfortable with this to be honest and the statement that we need to put money towards playing staff is ridiculous, it probably would cost the club a few hundred quid a week when we have some players sitting on their backsides earning thousands. Its just not a good look and a real shame considering all the positive community work the club is trying to do.
Caveat there doesnt seem to have been much fact checking and this is started by a Twitter group. Im assuming what they claim is correct but I dont know for sure.

Calls have been made for Nottingham Forest to pay staff the real Living Wage during an online social media campaign for action.

Nottingham Citizens has called on the Championship club to pay all their employees, including match-day staff, a real Living Wage of £9.50 per hour.

They said they needed help to raise the profile of the campaign using a targeted 'Tweetstorm' action designed to get round the table with the club and negotiate for change.

The group said online: "We took action in January 2020 and subsequently met with the club chairman who told us that while the club are sympathetic to the campaign, they want to invest every available penny into the playing side and that to commit to paying the Living Wage would put them at risk of breaching 'financial fair play'.

"We don't think this is a good excuse. The costs of uplifting employees to the Living Wage would be minuscule in the grand scheme of the club's budget.

"Now is the time for Nottingham Forest to support people struggling in the wake of the pandemic and ensure every member of staff earns enough to support themselves and their families."
