Birmingham didn't have much of the ball. Waking up this morning, and thinking about what I saw, there was one overriding observation. There were no aimless high balls pumped in to the box. There was more forward passing than you can shake a stick at. Playing that way against the thug sides like Cardiff and Millwall would have those giant defenders turned and flailing about as we zipped past them. It was proper tikka takka stuff !! We have had a DOF for some time now and that should be his role in ensuring that transition and integration happens successfully, as well as looking to implement similar styles and formations as well as coaching so it is a setup youth players are already familiar with when they step up to the first team. Nothing changes with the role/expectation of the position they are playing which should make it easier for them to be able to perform. Let's hope that begins to happen. It happens at youth level but the whole club should be looking to play the same way. You had me at 'hello,' Red. SA. RE: Nottingham Forest Academy And Under 23's - JollyLolly - 21-09-2021 MR, who is the current DOF? I don't feel that he has had any real input in how the football is played through all the age groups to date, seems to have been left to those responsible at age group and 1st team level. Is this a position that Dane is going to look at next, possible change if not happy? RE: Nottingham Forest Academy And Under 23's - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 21-09-2021 He's not a DOF in the true sense of the word. I know he's listed has the DOF but that is another story. Dane, Syrianos, Perperidis, Brazil, Brass etc are in control of football decisions/matters not our so called DOF. RE: Nottingham Forest Academy And Under 23's - ozzyten10 - 21-09-2021 He is very well respected and liked. Although it is more like player liaison role he has… RE: Nottingham Forest Academy And Under 23's - JollyLolly - 21-09-2021 So in answer to my original question it seems as though we do not have a DOF as such more a player/manager liaison guy for want of a better description. Nothing against the present incumbent but this is a very important position, he is the continuity guy on the football side of the club as managers and coaches leave and require replacement. If the DOF position became available I would like to see Forest connections like Hart or Pearce or similar both who have gained considerable knowledge and are well respected in the game. RE: Nottingham Forest Academy And Under 23's - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 21-09-2021 I honestly don't think we need one. Murphy is in charge now of football decisions and then we have Syrianos, Perperidis, Brazil, Brass, Joyce, Reidy etc etc who all appear to be singing from the same hymn sheet now. I don't think we need a DOF sticking his nose in too. Just my opinion of course but there appears to be enough chefs in the kitchen. I thought Gary Brazil was promoted to Director of Football with his new deal? Must be a different job title. SA. I do not get that stance, all successful clubs that want to use this type of model have a CEO and DOF. The DOF is a vital day to day part of the implementation and continuation. A CEO does not have the opporunity if they are doing all other aspects of the CEO role of a club. And not sure why we have a DOF that does notnot carry out that duty. What it does explain is the differing methods used within the youth team and first team. |
