I agree.

We could be doing great, sitting at the top of the table but what happens then when struggling teams in the PL start sacking managers? We could lose him to someone else. Also big clubs in France will come knocking if we are flying high.

Why gamble on losing him? If he signs a new contract and we struggle then at least the decision to stick or twist would be in our hands.

Those risks exist regardless of whether he has a short or long contract.

True but I believe that the risk would be greatly reduced if he was offered and signed a new long term contract, that would show that he is happy in Nottingham and with his employers and job.

I think i’m right in saying that he wanted a one year contract?

He was clearly happy with that or he wouldn’t have come, think it suited all parties

We haven't exactly had a good record with managers within the club, the fact hes only on a one year contract its damage limitation for all parties. If sabri does prove to be a class manager I'm certain the hierarchy will act to keep him at the club. Acting now is just reverting back to our old approach which hasn't worked for how many years??
Fair play to the club for sorting a major problem we had.

I can see this debate from both sides of the fence. I can fully understand why some are a bit concerned and I can understand why others are not. I suppose we just have to wait and see what happens.

Yes wasn't he quoted as saying he didn't want or need more than one year ?

Lets hope that he meant one year at a time, a rolling contract.

I think a 12 month rolling contract is the most likely scenario. I can't imagine that he would have been given the job if he said that he only wanted it for a total of 12 months and no more.

If that is the case then I am happy with that. I have a feeling that it won't be too long before negotiations open on a new deal.
