RE: International Football - England - Euros - World Cup Etc - Plymouth red - 04-07-2026 You didn't have to be Nostradamus to see that there was a high chance England would play in Mexico in this round and that Mexico would be our probable opponents. Tuchel has banged on about how his only goal is is to win the WC. I would therefore assume something like this would not have been left to chance and that the players would have some significant preparation for the altitude. We can say it's unfair but the draw and stadiums were announced months ago. Someone trying to win the world cup would have to take account of this. If they haven't then you have to ask questions as to why. Surprised the team only flew to Mexico yesterday, could have given themselves a couple days longer to acclimatise. You would hope they have been simulating the altitude in some way. Agree with Chicago that you add humidity and pollution into the mix it makes it very difficult unless you are used to those conditions. RE: International Football - England - Euros - World Cup Etc - JohnG - 04-07-2026 It's a balance because Mexico's last opponents were getting sleep disturbed by fans making noise around the hotel. England's training facilities aren't as secure either so they wanted additional time to work on specifics RE: International Football - England - Euros - World Cup Etc - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 04-07-2026 Even if England had flown straight to Mexico after the DR Congo game it is still nowhere enough time to adjust to such a high altitude. Full adjusment takes about 2 weeks. RE: International Football - England - Euros - World Cup Etc - Sausage Roll - 05-07-2026 So I see Infantino has bent over for Orange Hitler again and FIFA have suspended Balogun's one match ban so he can play. Come on Belgium now - hope you absolutely hammer them. RE: International Football - England - Euros - World Cup Etc - Salvatore Matrecano - 05-07-2026 Even by Infantino’s high standards this is quite spectacular levels of corruption. Belgium FA rightly going apeshit about it. It's quite incredible that FIFA managed to find someone to succeed Blatter who makes him look like a paragon of virtue and honesty. But they did it. RE: International Football - England - Euros - World Cup Etc - Salvatore Matrecano - 05-07-2026 “Hey Gianni what’s with those Belgians playing with 11 men? I don’t like it, they haven’t paid the right tariffs, I’m telling you they can only have 8 players” “Leave it with me Donald my friend! By the way how are you getting on with my request for a medal of honour?” RE: International Football - England - Euros - World Cup Etc - Sausage Roll - 05-07-2026 Haaland masterclass putting Brazil out. If England do beat Mexico things aren't getting any easier. RE: International Football - England - Euros - World Cup Etc - Paplane - 06-07-2026 Bit frustrating setting my alarm clock amd then waiting for an hour. I'm in the pub, flagging though! Wish it would hurry up and start. RE: International Football - England - Euros - World Cup Etc - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 06-07-2026 What a night! I got up at five minutes to three Greek time to see the game had been delayed for an hour. I went back to bed and got up again at ten to four. Watched the match and went back to bed at twenty past six. It was worth every moment. What a game and it was a victory for football over unfair play and FIFA corruption. So pleased we won that one and the Lions showed their teeth when it really mattered. Well done TT and all the boys. |
