RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Alf - 06-10-2019 (05-10-2019, 11:24 AM)Frochy1977 Wrote: Alf, you are very very demanding, I think you should take one step back. You are craving something that does not exist at any football club and that is squad perfection. There will always be good and not so good signings at every football club in the land. Some players lose form, some get injured, some get personal problems, some can't settle, some don't fit into a certain formaton. No squad will ever be 100% perfect. So's the owner. Just reflecting the standard that he's led us to expect. We're doing well. Focus should be on recruitment in Jan now to do better. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Paplane - 06-10-2019 We dont need another mass influx of players in Janaury to upset the applecart. Just a striker and a rb if Jenkinson is still injuredat that point. I think Muric will go back to City and then out again to someone else. So maybe a back up keeper too if Mouch thinks the options there are limited. But plenty of games yet to play before Jan, we could be looking at it completely differently at that point. We’ve signed 4 players who look like they could make a real impact in a promotion battle (I’m including ameobi). Samba and Sow are two of the best signings we’ve made in years too. I like this post Alf. Not saying I agree with all of it, but it's properly reflective and well reasoned. I think Jenkinson was a solid signing and think competition for Cash will keep him improving. For the record, I stated early on that Cash has all the attributes to be a top modern right back. If I were a Prem scout, him and Worrall would be on my shopping lists. Muric is a really odd one. If he had started well, his confidence may have been up and he may have been top draw. That's the risk with young keepers. I always thought Pants was fine though. Samba however is a big upgrade. Semedo is different to Yates and is worth having just for the quality he brings. His goal at Swansea and performance vs Brum have helped contribute 6 points towards where we want to be. Chema looks decent early doors, Silva is contributing and as you say Sow has had a big impact. I see Ribeirio as an upgrade on Robinson too. Mir looks short on confidence and needs a goal. Sorry to make the comparison but the core of our European Champions were already here when Cloughie took over. However adding the likes of Shilts, Burns, Lloyd, Archie, etc over a couple of years took us to the top. Granted there were very few misses from Clough and Taylor. We also have alot of signings from previous regimes who are not part of his plans to shift or see out contracts. January is only important if Oct, Nov & Dec continues as Aug & Sept have. If we drop off then what do we do? If we are clear out front and firing on all cylinders then what? Who did Norwich sign last Jan? It is so hit and miss. I guess I am saying I agree with your sentiments on signing policy. No more scatter guns, just quality and "sure things" - even though no such thing as a sure thing! The last window seems so far quite successful, the next one has to be very successful. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Derby My Arse - 06-10-2019 Some cheap talk around of Sabri attracting interest from a PL Club. Click bait websites at work? Better be. In many ways IF SL takes us up, he will have succeeded where so many reputations have been destroyed. Then get us into Europe, win a couple of trophies and his stock will be so high he could choose his job...which would be at all new City Ground. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 06-10-2019 Time for Sabri to be offered an extension I reckon. I agree Sniffer. A year seemed sensible with our hire and fire record but it would be the ultimate irony, after years of giving useless managers long contracts and firing them, we finally get a good manager and he looks elsewhere because his contract is expiring. You have to think of his backroom team as well, presumably they are in a similar situation but on lower wages, they have their livelihoods to think of. It is still early days but the promise he has showed already should be rewarded. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Username - 06-10-2019 Not for me, give it until December and review it then. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 06-10-2019 I think we should get it done now. If Everton come knocking... What more does he have to do, we are top two, he has completely transformed the likes of Worrall, Watson and Cash, the team looks very well coached, the spirit he has created around the squad is awesome, he is loved by the fans, he is happy to work with Modesto and Dourekes which was a huge sticking point for previous managers and will be for potenial future managers, his record at Rennes was very good so he has done this before, need I go on? RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - ozzyten10 - 06-10-2019 His interview was telling- perhaps I will get more time, more trust... something along those lines... Worrall also out of contract, need to get that sorted too. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - PsychoStanleyStone - 06-10-2019 Give the fella 3 years, we will lose him otherwise, he is going to attract interest from everywhere, everyone knows, if a manager can succeed at NFFC they can excel anywhere. With 1 or maybe 2 exceptions prior to the season it is a squad assembled from kindergardens, peripherals, ringers, unprovens, inconsistents and has beens!
