Our Best Ever Striker - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 24-03-2020

Thought this would make an interesting poll and some good debate.

Stan Collymore.

My heart said Joe Baker.
But my head - and my vote - says Stanley Victor Collymore.

For me it's Nigel Clough. Consistently brilliant for many years.

I haven't seen all of them play in the flesh, but for me it has to be Stan. He had everything: pace, strength, finishing ability with both feet, passing, crossing. Everything bar temperament.

He's the nearest thing I've seen to an English version of Brazilian Ronaldo. If he'd been more fortunate with his mental health he could've been an absolute world-beater.

We were lucky to have his best two years.

Peter Withe, Tony Woodcock and Gary Birtles all deserve a fair mention on this thread too

RE: Our Best Ever Striker - King Joe - 24-03-2020

I voted other, Joe Baker my favorite player but my vote go's to
Ian Storey Moore who did it for a longer period.

RE: Our Best Ever Striker - Joe Baker Legend - 24-03-2020

I voted for SVC
But was thinking of all the goals Pierre van Hooijdonk scored, but couldn`t vote for him because of his attitude at the end

It has to be Stan, the best player I’ve ever seen play in the Garibaldi.

Was Collymore's all round game better than Nigel Clough's?

Both briiliant players but two very different types of player.

For me Clough just shades it plus he did it for Forest over a much longer period than Stan.

Agree with all of that.

In terms of consistency of performance over a sustained period then Cloughy would get it. But Stan was just explosive. His ability to get the ball, take a man (or an entire defence) on, and score was just unbelievable.
