I f#(King hate so many things about the premier league. The excitement of going up, being talked about and 'relevant' again-at least in media, playing the big boys every week...the shine has worn off for me. Why?
Getting spanked away most games-often humiliating so, being dominated at home most games as every team has mostly better players than us. Every mistake being punished, whilst we can barely score a goal a game. Players being given contracts that could buy my house outright in about 4 and a half weeks ...then doing f@(k all. People who know f#(k all about football and never been interested, suddenly want to know if you can "get hold of any tickets" and "will Jonno be fit". People who should know better telling the manager what he should and shouldn't have done- with the benefit of hindsight obviously. A bi-weekly -always seems to be a Wednesday- stressful scramble for away tickets because we only attended 16 away games in the Championship. "Got to give everyone a fair chance" -WHERE THE F@(K WERE THOSE TW@TS WANTING A FAIR CHANCE LAST SEASON? More to the point where will they be next season if we go down? Loyalty points? We're in the prem now folks, f**k them off sharpish. VAR? Please tell me it won't be in Championship if we drop. And as for the tourist fans we come across at many established clubs, seriously? The atmosphere at all our away games except Newcastle has been Dog sh1t. Granted our home atmosphere has never been better but for how long? Even now disgruntlement drips through on social media. "We should be beating likes of Bournemouth/Fulham at home earlier in season".
Ultimately though the club knows, that in spite of all of this, we the loyal supporters are what truly matter, the heart and soul of any club...right?.......Wrong.....for some reason after being more together than I can remember for some time, this has very quickly disappeared as the club are desperate to get more seats available for match day sale (corporate) and as they can't make ground bigger for at least another year, they are looking at the "cheap seats". Over 75s, under 24s and the like. Maybe we should sell another 5k away memberships on top of current 5k or maybe have a tin level membership after bronze where you might get a ticket...unless we go down of course when the glory hunters and tourist disappear and we may have 5000 empty seats most weeks-again.
Why do we put ourselves through this to be treated like sh1t by the club we all love? ...there's the answer. That unrequited love.
So May 5th, when I've pulled together the unexpected and not budgeted for extra £500 I will - as always - fork out ready for another season along woth many of you.
Many would ask, who's the tw@t now? Me clearly and don't try and tell me it's my choice, you haven't been listening if that's what you say-or worse you don't know what a curse it is to be a loyal supporter.
Excellent post Zico.
I would like to add that despite me supporting the club for 49 years this year (I'm planning on having a 50th anniversary bash with my family next year to celebrate my half century of supporting the reds), I have not been able to get a ticket this season for love nor money. Last season, i managed to get to watch the Swansea match at home. But because of a combination of work, distance and ill health, I havent racked up enough 'loyalty points' to even be considered to get a ticket.
What about the loyalty of travelling home and away back in the 70's in the old division 2, when every week you literally took your life into your own hands and knew 9 times out of 10 there was a kicking waiting for you on the way from the station to the away ground. That intensified in Division 1! What about the loyalty of regularly going to well over half of the home games per season for well over 40 years. Did I have a season ticket? For a few years, back in the late 70's I did, but because I have always worked shifts and weekends, I havent seen the reasoning to buy one, as I know I wouldn't be able to get to every game because of work. After a time, I got married and then my kids came along. I couldnt afford a season ticket after that, but did still manage to get to as many home matches as I could.
Then as my kids were growing up, I brought them along with me. The cost of one adult and 2 or 3 kids became extremely hard to pay for, but we would go when I could afford it.
I am envious and full of respect for the likes of Zico and the others that get to both home and away matches, week in, week out! Well done all of you! Without your undying support for our club, there would be such a shit atmosphere everywhere we go. It makes me so proud week after week to hear our travelling army out singing the home fans.
But what grates me the most is the clubs present stance that because I am getting older and less physically able to get about for long distances and the fact that I have to work weekends and late into week days sometimes, I am no longer considered 'loyal'.
THAT HURTS!!!!

I absolutely agree with every word. Everyone has unique circumstances and whilst I don't judge those who can no longer go, it pisses me off that people who never showed an interest or even were "fans" of other clubs suddenly prance around in Forest tops and have tickets to away games. I didn't quite nske those crazy 70s times (I wish for 1978) but 80s I certainly did.
My issue is the clubs priority is the corporates and those who don't care what the cost.....so long as its for Premier League product.

Not sure of the actual total Sniff, but there are no more available.

Makes all the rainy Tuesday nights sat in the TE watching us play awful football losing to dreadful teams all worthwhile. The old adage no pain no gain springs to mind. Feel a little sorry for the lads in front of us who stuck it for years, then gave up 2 seasons ago, bet they’re kicking themselves now !

I know what you mean. There was a lad in front of who stayed through the league 1 days through to Sabri then disappeared without trace. Whatever his circumstances he earned the right to watch us now.
As regards sales we have to leave roughly 5000 tickets for matchday sale and 3000 away fans which means just over 21000 season tickets.

I think it's 23k
3k for away fans, leaving 3.9k for members

Got mine this afternoon. Very smart presentation box, quite like the key ring. Whether that makes up for the price increase is up to you.
Still think for the product you get it’s OK value. And to be honest being there for games like Arsenal in May was simply priceless.
