The two points highlighted above...
1. Never going to happen in this day and age.
2. For owners of football clubs especially the ones in the PL and top half of the Championship it IS all about the PL.
Wilder & Farke would suggest otherwise.
THe latter was just a personal preference, but I still think for a club with our budget building is a better approach than changing things each yaer until something works.
I think what Duncan is trying to get across is that it might be your personal preference but it's not going to happen. 2 years like Farke might happen at a stretch but a few years like Alf mentioned, never going to happen.
Then we're never going up unless the club invests significantly for a string of windows.
That's my whole point. It probably isn't going to happen. And that's why we probably aren't ever gonna go up.
How many years on the spin do we have to do the same thing over & over until we realize that it doesn't work?
7 years out of 7 we've sacked managers mid-season. 7 out of 7 years we've finished lower than where the manager who started the season had us.......
SOD 7th - Mcliesh 13th - Davies 8th
Davies 7th - Brazil 11th
Pearce 12th - Dougie 16th
Dougie 14th - Williams 16th
Monty 20th - Warbs - 21st
Warbs 13th - AK 17th
AK 7th - MON 9th
It's quite frankly unreal that those running the club still think constant change is the answer.
21st -> 17th -> 9th -> ?
The trend is up since the Greeks took charge. Despite your negativity the evidence shows that they are getting things right on the pitch.
The intended criticism of the current regime merely highlights the incompetence of the previous one; an irony that has probably escaped Alf.

To come to the title yes the club is serious and yes we have a bigger squad but it might not be big for long as the other windows are still open so players can still leave. Is the squad good enough/lucky enough for promotion now that is the question.
Leeds game showed something quite telling and that was the the fact despite the team not laying very well they refused to let the game get away from them and refused to just give up on the style of play the manager wants. If only we had more time before the season starts and more friendly games to work on this then maybe we might have been better placed for the new season.
The season is a long old thing in the championship so if we can keep improving and get the little things right with some luck we could be pushing for top 6.

I have a feeling the manager (head coach!) will make it past Christmas don't know why but i just think he has something about him.
if we are competitive come Christmas i can imagine the owners splashing out to try and push on at that point - we may see the bulk of the unwanted players begin to drift away (if they haven't all gone abroad / league 1/2 by the end of the month).
fingers crossed anyway.
Here we go.....

i like lamouchi. hes intelligent and likeable.
i was very impressed the way he helped the team defend near the end. kept shouting "HOLD , HOLD" ...keeping the shape in midfield. was brilliant bit of tactics.

13 player contracts up at the end of the season.
We may make a go of it now but 2021 is when we go up.
The core strengthened, almost all the players who add little value due to leave.
Except for Robinson and possibly Ameobi & Milo based on performance, no-one on that list is going to get a new contract,

Also, have a number of Loans like Muric, Bostock, Semedo, Mir, the new Greek GK that a decision will need to be made on
Everyone is entitled to my opinion - COYR :)

I think we will only have to make a decision on two of those. Bostock and Mir.
The other decisions will be taken out of our hands by Man City, Benfica and Olympiakos (They don't want to sell them).

Just be good to get the squad down to a workable size for the manager and coaches and free up a lot of space for quality.

We have an option on both but isn't it a bit early to be discussing this?

That's the dream...
Although isn't this NFFC we're talking about? Where every departure is followed by the signing of two further players, roughly equivalent in ability to the player who has left.

Yes, this time in 12 months we will be in much better shape squad wise, it was always gonna be a big job to reduce numbers but with 13 contracts up next summer it will be job done.
