How about that in a 28 man squad there should be someone with pace and someone who can pick a pass and cross a ball, not too much to ask?

For passing, Cafu unexpectedly can do it better than we thought, Knockaert nowhere near as well as we thought, Lolley not as well as he used to and Freeman god knows.

Pace wise, well beyond Mighten nobody.

Think we need both which is why I would welcome both of Krovinovic and Murphy. Emphasise we need to move out some of the dead wood first.

One quality cross from Lolley and we have a goal.

I have been banging on about it for weeks. Our crossing and final ball is shocking but folks keep replying to me that we need pace. We don't need pace, we need someone who can cross and pass a football. Beckham had no pace, Robbo had no pace but they knew how to cross a ball.

Sniff it's fair to say you completely missed all points or did not understand I'm not sure which during our discussion on this.

But fortunately our manager has identified the need for more pace and mobility throughout our team and understands the importance of turning teams making it harder to defend when that final ball comes in the box and is looking to address it.

I understand what you are saying MR. However you can have all the pace in the world but if there is no decent cross or decent final ball at the end of it then what what is the point? I repeat without wishing to get boring, our crossing and final ball is garbage.

Yes as I have agreed, anybody can see that, basic level 1 coaching when attacking is that you get defences turned facing there own goal as it is far harder to defend and will sometimes make defenders put the ball in the net for us. To do that you need to get in behind them, something forest have lacked for a long time hence us being predictable to play against making it easier to defend against us. Especially when a lot of the time the cross has to be so precise as the majority of the time we only tend to have one person in the box to hit in in open play.

i think 1 problem, there were many, multi failures, but 1 problem for me wasn't so much about pace, it was more to do with composure and class

i see Cafu as someone who's strength is skill and composure, he receives the ball in a great position, up against a relatively isolated defender, i was thinking he could toy with the guy and do summat good but Cafu tried to run around him which made it easy and gives the defender every chance to dispossess him

i think Cafu has to be about skill and composure and getting others in, not saying he was too blame anymore than any of the others last night , though he was responsible to an extent for the 1st goal, but i think his composure let him down

Everyone wetting themselves about sow yates and cafu after 1 good performance against a lack luster millwall who bypassed there midfield most of the game , i said they was not good enough in that match day thread and last night showed that exactly, sow is clumsy poor on ball just a unit but gives away far to many free kicks , cafu still not sure what he is and is so inconsistent and i like yates but some times he runs around like a headless chicken got plenty of energy but doesn’t do that much watching him drop deep last night as a deep play maker to then pass the ball back to samba or to fullbacks every time was painful (showed how good silva and watsons passing range was last season )
If we ever want to get out of this divison we need better the only place we are going with that midfield is LG 1 .

Glad you said most. I definitely wasn't, but now he is here I will obviously get behind him, last night though he was a liability when he came on and lucky not to get a red.

As for those stating he is better than Lolley, I disagree wholeheartedly. Even in his poor run of form this year, Lolley has more assists/goals than our little French show pony. He also digs in defensively when needed. 

Final point on this game. Boro were decent last night and as others said reacted off the back of a pi$$ poor performance and result. But to say they are full of pace and power is disingenuous. Howson had a good game, but he struggled in a foot race with Cafu, who is our slowest player since Gary Jones (slight exaggeration), only Cafus poor touch gave him the advantage of the angle. Britt was very good, his movement and determination gave us a tough time. He is not as quick as prior to his knee injury and has had to adapt his game. 

The first yard is in your head. Different level I know, but Clough and Sheringham were a fantastic partnership opening up teams left right and centre between them (literally as well as figuratively). In a foot race I think Gary Jones might actually beat them both.

Sniff, I am 100% with you re delivery (add brains and movement too). Craig Westcarr was the fastest player at Forest for a while but struggled at this level. Robbo, ONeil?, Walsh, Wigley, Crosby, Rice (legend :D ), Parker, Woan, Black, Gaynor all lacked or had zero pace but did ok in the top flight for us out wide in my time. Woodcock and Franz, Carr only successful absolute fliers I can think of. Stoney was quickish.

Pace? Give me quickness of thought and decent delivery every time out wide.
