Shin splints might just bugger him up for the start of next season too if he needs a sustained period of rest. Lets hope its a knock like Reds73 thinks it is.

Joe Lolley, what has happened to him?

It's not long ago that we didn't want him to be sold for less than 15M.

On recent performances 1.5M looks more realistic. Not having a pop at him but I think it's a fair comment.

Last season’s style didn’t suit Lolley, but he still did ok despite the injury because he had a great partnership with Cash. Cash overlapped to support him and meant if the defender pushed him onto his right foot he could lay it off to the overlapping Cash.

This seasons approach isn’t great for attacking players, and he lacks Cash. And he’s carrying the injury.

I assume we aren’t signing yet another right back in January. So we need more movement and options in our attacks, else even without injury I don’t expect him to be shining. We’re too static as a team to suit him.

1.5m ?!! ... I doubt that we will get the money we paid for him (500k). With every game the passes, the bad or average performances are overtaking his great games of the past.
He had a great first season were everyone was saying that he was destined for the Premiership with Villa, now? on his third season and if he continous like this, he will end up leaving on a free as the club will not deem renewing his contract (with some upgrade) as feasable.
He will agree a deal with some other Championship club and the Joe Lolley of his first season will be history.
At the moment it doesnt matter if he starts or if he comes in as a sub, but his contribution is just average. Gone are those jinking runs and shots from outside the box, and pls lets not blame Cash (missing), as not only Christie overlaps, probably more than Cash (its Christies defending that is dodgy) and Cash left Forest this season, to my knowledge Cash was still here from January 2020 till September 2020 and Lolley was already average (but at the time we were blaming the injury -never the player).

Got more credit in the bank than most, as he was very good for 2.5 seasons.

Certainly struggled recently though, seems to have lost that sharp acceleration which helped him beat players. Don't think shifting him around to fit in Knockaert suits him either.

Agree. I am much less concerned about Lolley ( & Grabban for that matter ) than most. Lacking a little confidence perhaps ( not helped by our fragility at full back ) but will come good.
I remain more concerned with our defence - inc defensive midfield. Hope that Worrall & Sow can help sort but don’t see any solution at full back within our current squad ( although Iaonnou may still prove to be the answer on the left? ).

Surely the lack of goals is our main issue right now though? Perhaps this is hindered by central midfield issues but we're clearly creating chances (which is still a positive). We desperately need to actually take some of them!

Lost a bit of pace and zip in his play. Doesn’t look happy at the best of times but playing with the weight of the world on his shoulders.

One of our best players in one of the recent games, can’t recall which one.

Also had a decent game against Rotherham.

Is exposed by a weaker right back and a drop of quality infield compared to last season.

Coming on as sub isn’t suited to him either.

One thing under Hughton is that we do get a lot of crosses into the box but that seems to be more from Ameobi and Christie.

Sometimes a player will not produce if he’s not getting enough of the ball in the right areas.
