Whilst I didn’t want Brereton to go I do feel the club has probably got the timing right. He obviously wasn’t going to get much game time and he needs it to develop, which clearly wasn’t going to happen here. Fast forward a season and we could have had an unhappy player who had only dipped his toes in the first team and not developed as hoped and subsequent value would drop. Our goals have clearly changed for this season and time to develop the youngsters in our first team will be limited, rightly or wrongly.
