I know it's early days but I've really been disappointed with Hughton's decision making so far.
Specifically what out of interest. After a long run of defeats, if you had told me that we would win 1 and draw 3 of his first 4 games I would have bitten your hand off. Confidence is going to take time to recover as its something like 1 win in 15 games, but 6 points in 4 is a very solid start. We are looking at mid table I think, but could have been a season long relegation battle. We are a long way from being out of it at present...
Exactly. We were a team in free fall with zero confidence. He has rapidly addressed the descent.
Nah, that narrative ain't right. In Sabri's last match, after the first 20 mins we played Bristol City off the park. This wasn't a case of a major overhaul needed. We have a strong squad, top 6. They were under performing and the upside was there to be released.
6 points from 4 matches is a stat which sounds decent but he came in with a great run of fixtures to start with, and it continues with Boro, Coventry, Wycombe & Barnsley. That's a dream start.
We needed a lucky last minute deflection vs Blackburn for that win, and 3 draws against Rotherham, Derby & Luton. Those were there to be won. We'll see how good these draws are after our upcoming run against Bournemouth, Swansea, Watford, Reading, Norwich & Brentford.
We've scored 4 goals in 4 matches, and 2 of them were basically own goals. And poor football in all 4.
Decisions? Tonight, leaving Freeman, one of the best in the division on the bench and playing Lolley there. He has never played well in that position. Ditto team selections and refusal to make subs against Derby & Rotherham, as I commented in those match threads. Not a single minute for Mighten in 4 matches?
This squad isn't mid table standard, let alone relegation standard, and the first 4 games didn't consign us to it. If that's all Hughton can do with us this season he'll be fired, and rightly so.
I think these are pretty fair criticisms. Early days though
Early days. Don't make me laugh. Hughton has had the job for 3 full weeks. We should be top of the league by now. No excuses. It's poor football and poor decision making :D
