If it was and it was down to money spent, why aren't Boro', Derby and Villa already out of it?

Off the top of my head they've had failed stadium naming rights deal, been lying about attendances, the owner is suing the ex-ceo for financial mismanagement.
They've spent millions upon millions on players who were simply not worth it. They had to sell their player of the year Vydra in the summer (for FFP reasons) because he was the only player on their books who was considered to be of value.
They've appointed bang average managers who have all eventually failed when their luck ran out. The only recent manager that got them into the top 6 then duly buggered off when he got a better offer.
Their owner is a control freak, who is similar in many ways to Fawaz. The difference is, he's just made some cash himself, rather than inheriting it.
Villa similar woes, appointing the wrong managers and spending big on dross.
Boro, I accept, seem to be well run.
