I reckon our best bargaining chip is to tell him unless he signs a new contract then he is definitely being sold in January and he may end up going somewhere he doesn’t really want to go, Leeds etc where there is a fair chance he ends up relegated again.
Sign a new contract and he gets to pick and choose from more options in the summer and he can set his sights higher, more like Southampton, Leicester level, probably on higher wages too.
