He's not going to go on strike though so it's an option. He is irreplaceable already, hence the massive valuation. I know financially it's possibly not the smartest move and the squad is going to look a little different next year if in championship, but there has to be a debate on keeping him, letting his contract run down in the hope he leads us to promotion. Or perhaps agree a new deal with a non promotion release clause at the end of next season with the same result except he gets paid more next year.
I see either of these options as good to Brennan as if he becomes a free agent or if it's a low release clause he can choose his next move and also pocket a larger deal in the process.
In FFP terms this is clearly a terrible idea and maybe it would be better to just use what's left over after FFP to fill the gaps left by Garner, Davis, Johnson, Worrall (maybe) next year. He is that good though
