Say he chucked another £50m at the other 3 stands he'd be £200m down and still have a substandard, limited capacity stadium, when compared to other prem clubs.
I think that is spot on. If Forest are ever going to be a major force in the premier league we will need a much greater income. I suspect the land at Toton will be cheap and Forest would get a much greater return on their investment. 5,000 extra seats is hardly going to make much difference and the costs are high. The club will think they need a state of the art multi use stadium which maximises revenue from hospitality and they get a greater share of the income which is spent by supporters on match day. I suspect the site at Toton is also large and if allowed us to build a training complex their as well and the land where it is currently it would provide a signifant boost to the funds. I went to Man City’s newish ground for the first time this season. There is nothing there which is not owned by the football club. Nearly every penny spent will be going into the club. Their fans would have had a similar attachment to Maine Road but i bet not many would want to move back. Others saying we don’t need 50,000 but look at wham and City. Their support has expanded because of the bigger stadiums. There would be more tourists but some of them will also become committed supporters. We could sell 40,000 now. Every game for the last three years has been a sell out. With facility for extra away fans we wouldn’t be far off from filling a new stadium. I am for it.
