Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager

EM will expect a promotion challenge, but he didn’t sanction the big spending in the summer to suddenly panic after a handful of games. 

Do you remember when EM was first about to take over, Dougie had been sacked a few months before & all our prospective managers were flying out to Greece for interviews?

Our first choice target at the time was Víctor Sánchez, who was offered the job, & accepted it. It was so far done that the club even told people "off the record" that he'd been appointed & a press conference was being arranged for an official announcement.

The only reason Sánchez never became our manager was because, at the last minute, EM sacked Marco Silva, at Olympiacos, & appointed Sánchez there, instead, & gave us Montanier as an alternative.

What's this got to do with the price of rice?

Víctor Sánchez was hired on 23rd June 2016, EM fired him on 8th August 2016.

Evangelos Marinakis is not a patient man, anyone trying to convince themselves that last seasons results & performances don't matter, or that Marinakis will give the manager any special time extensions is trying to fool themselves, especially given the money spent.

The more money you spend, as an owner, the less patience you have, because you can't afford to be patient when you have so much money on the line, & when failure will be very exprensive.

You'll get more patience when nothing's been spent, because in those times you have nothing to lose by being patient.

Last year, during our record goal drought, Marinakis met with Míchel, as a possible replacement, if things didn't pick up, so we know patience is finite.

There is still time to turn things around, & I really hope we do, but make no bones about it the clock is ticking.

Ominous.  But his prerogative as owner.  He's put his substantial investment in.

But the teams that tend to get promoted usually have at least a whole season behind them.  Be nice to see Forest finally finish a season with the same manager they started with.
