Karanka is frustrating in his dogma of playing two deep defensive midfielders regardless of where we play and who we play - almost as if he doesn't trust the back four. It was noticeable that we improved significantly only after Osborn came on - ultimately was it necessary to play such a defensive formation against a side that had not scored in over 270 minutes of football.
Furthermore it means we create very little going forward. Against Reading, we won but did not create many opportunities. Against Bury we had one shot on target in 90 minutes. Against Birmingham our first shot on target was the goal. Ultimately people have criticized Grabban and Murphy but what service and support have they had? How many times have we got behind their full backs? How many times have we caught teams on the counter attack? Our play under Karanka is very one dimensional, slow and easy to predict. It looks like the players who start are scared to take risks and try things so they play sideways or backwards while the more creative players go missing.
I hope that against Brentford we will play with more tempo because if we play like we have in last four games we will be well beaten
