Stoke City - Nottingham Forest

If we don't sign anyone and assuming Tutu and Colback are injured. (Does cup count as one of Bongs suspension games?)

Horvath
Back  Figs (so wish it wasn't though)  McKenna  Bong/Jenkinson (yes really needs must).

Zink    Yates    Fornah    Johnson

Carvalho (did nowt last night, but came on to a sh1t show)
                  Taylor

Still think that side struggles massively against Stoke though. What are the alternatives?  We can blame the manager all we like, but I don't see one potential line up that fills me with any confidence.

Horvath has to start.

What was Samba doing for the goal last night?  *complete headless chicken.  That's the 3rd match he's cost points.

How are a makeshift defence supposed to feel confident with that style of keeping?  Complete lack of composure.

Are you serious? That team would get absolutely battered by Stoke at present. I like Zink, Carv, Mighten and Johnson, but that is a seriously lightweight set up against one of the most physical sides in the Universe!

Losing 2-1 or "having a go" and getting battered 4 or 5-1, what would you prefer?

Yep.

Lightweight.

People live in cloud cookoo land Zico. CH would get pelters if he put that side out and got the inevitable battering.

It's almost worth it just to shut people up!

The problem is in an ideal world, you'd drop Yates, Figs, Gabriel, Colback etc. We just don't have any replacements. Yates had a really poor game last night though, the amount of times where he just aimlessly gave it away was crazy. I know we've got bigger problems and maybe he'd look better in a winning team but he's a weakness in a team full of weaknesses.

I still think he's fixable as he has a lot of positive assets. One for the coaching team that one

Manager doesnt have many options, but there are some he can make.
Keeper
Horath in for Samba
Midfield
Cafu and Fornah in for Yates and Colback.
Or Cafu and Johnson in for Yates and Colback.

Fair comment.  And that could be said of Brennan (who didn't do alot last night as he receives his bite of reality sandwich in the Championship.)

Car' didn't do much at all.

It's a nice dream, playing 'all the kids.'  (Youth, Hughton doesn't play youth.)

But now he is, we see the limits of that dream when it's not surrounded by quality experienced heads.

I agree with the keeper and Cafu in for Yates. I'm not sure bringing Fornah in is going to suddenly turn us around. It feels like it's trying just for the sake of it.

I think Johnson is a significant factor. He offers nothing defensively which is fine if his selection is resulting in the scoring or creation of goals. But it's not, he's a passenger and playing him makes CH feel he has to play 2 CDM's to balance it out. Put Cafu in there behind Grabban and you could maybe get one of Yates or Colback playing more progressively. At least Cafu would be willing to receive the ball in that central area. That being said, it might result in the full backs being exposed more which would be problematic if they're young Back and not so young Bong.

Maybe just drop Johnson and do a straight swap with Carvalho? He couldn't do any worse.

Barring one moment at Chav, Johnson has not really got started this season.

Johnson isn't playing in League 3 now with his pal who helped him look good. He's in the Championship. And he'll be targeted for the same rough stuff as Mighten.

If you don't offer goals you have to offer more. And for the last two games...
