Season - Bottom at Christmas - Relegated?
2010/11 - PNE - Yes
2011/12 - Cov - Yes
2012/13 - P'Boro - Yes
2013/14 - Barnsley - Yes
2014/15 - B'Pool - Yes
2015/16 - Bolton - Yes
2016/17 - R'Ham - Yes
2017/18 - Brum - No
2018/19 - Ipswich - Yes
2019/20 - Stoke -No
2020/21 - Wycombe - Yes

So that's 9 out of the last 11 seasons that the team who was bottom at Christmas went on to get relegated. It's too late to make the change.

Perhaps, but the fact that we're bottom now does not mean we'll be bottom at Christmas

Doesn't mean we won't be either, that's why some of us want proactive change rather than reactive.

Also true, you could say that about any team though!  :D

I think there's an interim period between now and Christmas that if we're still bottom I'm sure it would be time to pull the plug. I don't think now is that time yet, however I do agree the clock is ticking.

CH is the biggest winner of this window. It's taken a lot of pressure off him in the short term.

Well, yes, a Manager having 9 of 'his' own signings (some of which are actually permanent outfield players.) makes a difference.

He avoided relegation with no permanent outfield signings that were his.

I'd imagine he'll do better with his own players in.  He's got 9 of them.

I don't see a quick fix.  But with the tools to now do the job and a mini-pre-season over the next couple of weeks the odds are in favour of Hughton's Forest being able to pick up points and climb the table.  Pity they weren't all brought in much sooner. (Don't see the game vs Cardiff being a walk in the park even with the new signings.). Could do with a win would to really get Forest going.

He didn't get a striker though?  Hopefully Silva is the ace in the pack.

I don't think he can.

Worral's return is huge, hopefully out of the plethora of fullbacks we've signed we can fid 2who are better than bottom 3 material, but we need goals and ultimately I think that will be his undoing.

The one caveat to that is if we somehow find a way of maximizing out set plays. That could make the difference, but it hasn't looked likely yet.

These 9 are never, ever Hughton's own signings.

What does turn it around mean?

If it means will we avoid relegation that should be pretty easy, barring significant injuries.

If it means get the best out of the players at his disposal then a resounding no.

It means start winning football matches and moving up the table.

Voted yes as I’m an optimist. But think we’ll know after the next 2 games. Cardiff and Middlesborough at home, he’s got to go for it. If we don’t win either, I think he’ll be gone.

Goals are the issue. Obviously. Could Mighten play as a striker? I think it’s worth a shot.

Will we have any behind closed doors friendlies between before Cardiff?

'his.'

I get the impression that the recruitment effort was a (cosmopolitan) 'team' effort with Randall on record that Hughton has the final say.  If you take Randal 'Kevin Keegan' at his word.

Any manager should be able to bring in his own permanent striker after a year.  (Still waiting on that one.  And why we had so many 'draws' last years that could and should have been wins.  Not something you can put into Hughton's win ratio but statistics mask such things.). We're certainly missing a target man as an option.

It's doing a disservice to an excellent manager in Hughton.  I guess we're going to have to go 'team effort' on the goals scored with high wingbacks.  We'll soon find out.

If we can climb the table and work on January to bring in that striker.

There is 'hope' that the new wingbacks/wingers/no.2 (Silva) and general overall upgrading of the 1st team will bring goals out of Grabban and Lyle.  They have had poor service.  Something that also doesn't get shown in win ratios.
