Only met Robbo once back in 1974 he was in the next bed to mine in Harlow Wood hospital. I had just had my knee surgery and he arrived that afternoon for his own operation along with his mate Dave Serella also a Forest apprentice at the time. I was not really aware of Robbo at the time and we had a bit of a chat and that was that! However just a year to two later he was to burst onto the footballing world under BC & PT and as they say the rest is history but a truly great time for us Forest supporters of a certain age, many memories RIP young man!

Having been at work all day on Christmas Day, then just chilling yesterday, I have only just heard the sad news about Robbo's passing.
Like many on here, I was fortunate enough to witness week in, week out a true wizard of football down our left wing. He would disappear from the game at times and would just be lurking out on the left, then suddenly, bang!! he would get the ball and magic would happen. He was always an honest player. You never saw Robbo do any theatrics, diving, arguing with the referee or squaring up to any one. He just played the game how it should be played.
I met him once at a reserves fixture at the City Ground. I was sat in the Main Stand when a scottish voice started talking from behind me. There was sat Robbo, a 4 pack at the side of him and a fag in his hand. He was wearing a pair of beige faded corduroy trousers, an un-ironed shirt, a pair of scruffy shoes and a jacket with un combed hair and he was unshaven, but I recognised him straight away as the maestro. Regardless of his appearance, we sat chatting throughout the match and his knowledge of some of the reserve team players, for both sides, was incredible. But what i do recall from that time chatting with him was the fact that whilst he would mention a certain player probably wasnt good enough, he never said a bad word about any of them. He didnt slag anybody off or tell any tales or gossip. He was straight talking, but respectful and sincere.
Thank you for the wonderful memories you have given me. I can honestly say, hand on heart, it was an absolute privilege and pleasure to have watched you and supported you from the stands every week.
Rest in Peace Robbo.
