To be fair though there are dozens of clubs where we can send some of our youngsters to not just the Sadpies. More recently Mansfield, Port Vale, Lincoln and Woking for example.

Definitely.
The benefit of having them closer to home is logistics and not having to uproot a young lad for twelve months. A settled player is a happier player.

There’s a counter argument that if he’s playing and the team is successful he’ll be settled and happy regardless.

I suppose we should be grateful that County let us play in their stadium after the Main Stand fire in 1968. We played six games at Meadow Lane.
