Nottingham Forest Player Of The Decade
#25
He was whole hearted and a good lad but can ya really give an award to somebody who averaged about 15 games a season for 7 years. Never played in the prem. Never voted on championship team of the year.

Yes. When you look at the alternatives!

Cohen's closest challenger is Antonio who stayed at Forest just one year and played 50 games for the club in total.

Chris Cohen was ever present in the 2010/11 season in which we finished 6th losing to Swansea in the play offs, it remains (embarrassingly) our best finish of the decade.

Seeing as Chris was pivotal in that side, which is the only one worthy of note, then yes he is worth the title of player of the decade. That is even before you factor in his commitment to the club. He will manage NFFC one day.

Chrissy Cohen for me.

Whilst it was sad that he had so many career threatening injuries, he still tried to come back again and again.

His attitude was exemplary and he was the perfect role model, not just for the academy players coming through the ranks, but to the thousands of young children with any kind of interest in football in general.

He was Forest through and through and said on more than one occasion that he did not want to play for any other club. He even offered to take a drop in wages in order to secure a new contract at the club. I dont recall any other player over the past couple of decades with as much loyalty and passion for our club than he showed.

When he did play, he put his body on the line each and every time for the club, hence why he had so many bad injuries, he was making his body do more than it was capable of doing. He also put in some wonderful performances and his goal against Ipswich almost certain guaranteed us Championship football since!

Above all else, he is a lovely man and still has the Garibaldi red blood running through his veins.

Yes. Because he was too good. How many offers did we get for cohen!? None because he was always injured

Most talented player of the last decade would be Antonio (not that he had 'that much' competition in that sense.) Pearce got him for a song and Forest sold him on for a large profit. The thread title implies 'most talented.'

Antonio wasn't here long. At all. And he sulked his way out of the club to get the move he wanted. Not a graceful exit.

However, 'Player of the Decade' is quite broad. And character comes into that. Loyalty, for me, comes into that. Professionalism comes into that. Chris had his 'own talent' of lifting sides with his positive and energetic play. That can be dismissed as untalented. But he was kept by the club for ten years. Yes, injured at times. As noted above, he broke his body for Nottingham Forest. Loyalty is a two way street. If you get injured, you help get players better who are flying the flag for your cause.

At the hight of his time here as a player? There was a 'big money' move muted to West Ham (?) that didn't materialise. Paper talk maybe.

Regardless, Chris stopped with Forest. He's currently a youth coach with Forest.

In an era of mercenaries, Cohen brought more to Forest over those 'ten' years than Antonio did.

Bit harsh that Jock. Cohen could have gone to the PL. He had chances. Cohen played 222 more games for the club than Antonio. Antonio jumped ship at the earliest opportunity.

Just for the record I voted for Antonio but I don't have a bad word to say about Chrissy Cohen.

I like cohen hes a nice lad and whole hearted . Everybody likes him. But best player of the decade. No way.

When we finished in the playoffs he wasn't the best player. Its all subjective of course and I love reading everybody else's thoughts but likes of McKenna camp moussi earnshaw majewski  Gunter Anderson Wilson Morgan were as good or better. In fact Morgan and gunter were voted on championship team of the year for us m Morgan twice! Plus Morgan played over 400 games for us
