And that very same club are now investing heavily in players which Villa now probably consider should, subject to the playing field being level, be viable targets for them. So currently I've got very little sympathy for their plight individually.
That’s a fair point but they did it to ensure they could balance the Europa commitments, their decision to field a weaker team was all about their short term desire to secure Champions League football.
With hindsight the game at Chelsea probably did more harm than good to us, and no moral victory can ease that loss.
Short term desire to be strong for the game against us, not to attain CL football. They had already pretty much won champions league football at that point via their league position. They threw the game without any consideration for the integrity of the league and now they're going to be paying for it when Spurs pass past them again. They were piss poor in the first half, Emery did nothing to correct it at half time and left it very late to change things. It was the biggest game throw I've ever seen. I perhaps wouldn't have minded if he had made 11 changes and then lost the game. He made 4 or 5 and the players who stayed in the side were clearly under instruction not to exert themselves.

We probably should have take a leaf out of their book, the injury to MGW against Chelsea was pivotal to how our season played out.

Not as black and white with us though. Going to Villa even with MGW was a tough task.
Anyway, I have sympathy with Villa in terms of they're in a position we might want to be in in 2 or 3 years time, but I'll never forget the fact that their coach that day did the football world generally a disservice.

George Syrianos has been promoted to Ross Wilson's old role of Chief Football Officer.
Be good to know if we've got a new CEO lined up though.

Just wondering, do we still have a “Global head of football” ? If we do he’s been totally invisible for a while now.

I mentioned this the other day.
It's not been made official but I think that Matteo Tognozzi is doing the role.

Worth mentioning that Ed Henderson has come back also.
He left a year ago to pursue other opportunities, but is now back in a senior role as ‘Head of Staff Football’.

Looks like the club are bringing in a usage policy with regards to season tickets. E.g. if you don't use your ticket, transfer it to someone else or list it on the exchange then there might be consequences.
Makes sense I suppose to give as many fans as possible a chance to go and to minimise empty seats.

Actually I think the club are being too lenient on this, I reckon they have been stung with criticism before but probably the majority opinion will be on their side here. The policy doesnt apply to kids or concessions which doesnt really make sense. I think other clubs say you can only miss 4 games or less, we are saying 5.
You can still put all your tickets on exchange without penalty which again doesn’t seem right. Wouldn’t be surprised if they tighten it next year.

Agree with this. I do think that the reason they will let you put it on the exchange is because they make more money that way. You got pro rata refund and they sell the ticket for the normal price.

Where we kept buying seats, the end season ticket one next to us, was there once in about 8 games of us sitting there. I know people have issues and may miss a chunk of games, but they really should be using the exchange to give others a chance. I am not personally bothered how much they exchange, as long as it's not ongoing over a number of seasons.
