I would have to consider Stern John a flop. He wasn't crap by any stretch of the imagination but I can't say that he was a hit.

Stern John is a classic example of what happened under Platt. He was a good player who went on to have a successful career and a regular in the prem. But Platt couldn’t get the best out of him or mould a team to suit his play. Great at hitting the crossbar though.

He wasn't that bad but he belongs in the flop category. The problem was we didn't play to his strengths. He was great at Coventry with big Mike Fergurson alongside him.

True that Sniffer. I remember Wallace being played together alonside Peter Ward, two midgets. We could have got more from Wallace if he had the right partner. So Wallace = flop but it wasn't really his fault.

And a fantastic bloke - who has shown his true colours in beating his horrendous health problems.

Always thought Geoff Thomas would’ve been great signing a few years earlier to play alongside Roy Keane. Wouldn’t get bullied with them two in the middle of the park. Top player when he played for us, shame he didn’t play many games because of injury.

Geoff Thomas stopped me in the street in Nottingham to ask me if I knew anywhere that sols Rolex watches - I did not have a scooby :)

We had Fashnau at the club too at that time who was a big lad but unfortunately he wasn't very good so that didn't help Wallace either. When we bought Wallace for 1.25 million he was at that time one of the most expensive strikers in the world.

Another one for you guys to consider, how about Frank Clark? I think he was in his late 30's when he signed for free from Newcastle. Player, Captain, Manager, Chairman & still promoting and supporting the club in other capacities, surely one of our clubs finest!
