Aye.  Forest lads.  You can hear the passion in their voices.  What they say.

Steve Hodge was my favourite player of the time.  Seemed to make Forest tick.  Shame Brian didn't play him in that Wembley final...

Fond times.  The Silver generation that had finally come home for Brian following on the great Golden generation of Forest players.

It was a shame Brian didn't have Peter to share it with.  It was etched on his face.

From I believe in Miracles, section on the 1978 Scotland World Cup squad:

“ MacLeod was in the crowd in Manchester that day and excitedly announced some time afterwards that Forest were so good he would have to include all of Clough’s Scottish players in his squad for the World Cup the next summer. Robertson had established himself as the outstanding wide player in the First Division. Burns had re-invented himself as a centre-half of great distinction. Gemmill was playing as though he was absolutely desperate to ram Tommy Docherty’s words back down his throat and McGovern was the leader of the best team in England at the time. It all made perfect sense. How could any of them possibly not be there? McGovern made a mental note not to book a holiday in the wrong part of summer and to brush up on the words to ‘Flower of Scotland’. It had been five years since he made his second and final appearance for Scotland’s Under-23s. He knew his relatives in Montrose–where he had lived until the age of seven–would be proud, and if he was following the press reports he would also have been aware of MacLeod’s Braveheart speeches, when the manager talked about Scotland going to the World Cup with the intention of winning it. Meanwhile, a quick-thinking photographer, sensing a pay day, set up a picture of McGovern with Burns, Gemmill and Robertson by the side of the City Ground pitch. Clough went in the middle, with the four players wearing kilts that been hired from a local fancy-dress shop. The five of them danced a Highland Fling and the photograph–‘The Clan McClough’–was ready to be wired to the newspapers as soon as everything was confirmed.
When Scotland’s squad was announced, Burns, Gemmill and Robertson were all in. But McGovern wasn’t. The photographer rang MacLeod to find out what was going on. ‘Where’s McGovern?’ he asked. There was an awkward silence. ‘McGovern’s Scottish?’ MacLeod replied.”

One of lifes' great mysteries.

It's criminal. The bloke won everything under the sun bar the FA Cup and captained the best team in Europe but he never won a full cap for Scotland. I can understand it if it was Brazil but Scotland? (No disrespect intended).
