Aye. Tomlin showed what he was about last season. And from the emergency transfer window in January...he was the highlight of the side in an attacking sense. I always felt something 'could' happen with him in the side. A 'Colback' wage sharing agreement with Cardiff in January might not go amiss. He brings something different to a very young attacking midfield.

They might be in the future.  For the 'here and now' (and last season...) I felt Tomlin brought an attacking intent, held the ball up well, won free kicks, was annoying as hell to play against and was a good link up man between the ACM and the 'single' striker...and he had a decent shot on him and some great goals in his locker.

I understand the '1 in four' turning up argument.  

But looking at Forest's form now...that kind of 'match winner' (which we 'may' have in Lolley...) would be nice to have in addition to Lolley and I feel would have got Forest some more points on the board.

I feel the Forest side has got some way to go to develop yet.  Another transfer window or two off being 'top too.'

You look at the form of Pants, Dar', Os at LB, Watson at DCM and the lack of senior experience at ACM and, I hate to say it, but inconsistent CH partner for Fox (though I still think Dawson hasn't been that due to injury niggles...) have contributed to reality not meeting expectations.  That's 5-6 players/positions that haven't pulled up trees.

And that's why Forest aren't in the top 6.  Sure, the squad is better than last year (and it's taken some coin to do that.)  Forest won't be in a relegation battle this year like the last three years.

But Forest need to get more out of these positions or get better players for them...or add more quality in depth to them.

There are answers, e.g.. A 'fit' Dawson at CH, Janko at RB, Robinson at LB, Bridcutt or Geddy at DCM.

Then there's the lack of depth at striker.  ...and do we need an experienced Championship winger with pace and power with goals in their locker?

Forest turned over the squad.  But that's only because it was necessary from start to finish.  Is the building finished?  Not really.  

It will take another handful of players to raise the bar to a solid top 6/top2.

I agree 100% with the above, but my only concern is our high turnover of players is highly likely to disrupt the harmony of.our players. I would like a couple in at the window, but like to see a lot outgoing. Keep these players for the season see where it takes us. Add come next season if necessary, in our weaker areas. January for me, is acm, left back to challenge robbo, maybe a striker.

Tomlin would certainly add some variety to the attacking threat. Obviously not a regular starter but there are a lot of matches this season. One to look at again in Jan if Goncalves/Dias don’t kick on a bit
