I can think of only one match where he's taken the game by the scruff of the neck and commanded it. It was Boro at home last season but that was a meaningless end of season dead rubber.
When he has made a difference, it's just been the odd moment of magic, a killer pass, a neat finish. Quality stuff but not commanding performances.

I seem to remember those moments of magic against poorer opposition as well tbh.
He's got the magic, he's got the touch, but does it make any difference, or, like when we're already 2-0 to Derby or QPR, is it just fluff? :s

Agree with Paps , Alf and Jock .... Silva is becoming the number 10 we really need, he only need to score a goal or two. Carvalho had enough time to do what Silva is doing right now, but the odd slick pass nd the odd goal make fans forget how anonymous he tends to go in games.

I think that having a side in decent form, with better players around can only help Carvalho to thrive. For now, I believe he has to continue to bide his time and keep doing what he did on Wednesday in 25-45 minute sub appearances, especially in the next two games against teams we need to be physical against.
I am pleased Silva has come good and does a good job for the team. His experience has helped him settle.
For those judging Carvalho against that Boro performance, be realistic. If he could do that even 15-20 times a season he would be worth double what we paid. If he did it consistently he would be worth more than Maddison. People forget games like Swansea away. He is contributing now, let's just enjoy it. Of course we all want him to be more consistent. Say half as good as the Boro game 9 times out of 10 and we would be loving it.
He has the ability to do things no one else can do. It wins games. (QPR last season). To dominate a game from No 10 requires alot from your team mates. I would argue a case that a fully fit Carvalho now has the players around him to potentially do so. I look forward to seeing it unfold.

Tbh I'd say if he did it 15-20 times a season he'd be worth what we paid, not double.

Disappointing again today, Ive said it before I will forgive him being anonymous for most of the game if he produces a bit of magic to unlock a tight defence. Well thats what we got today but unfortunately he failed to deliver again, Im not writing him off but games like this are exactly where he should be shining.
