forest are in right state and it`ll take hughton months to sort them out,our biggest danger is mowbray messing about with the line up and changing formation,if we keep a settled side im`e confident we`ll win easily

It's going to be harder than it would have been two weeks ago. We'll need to be sharper than we were against Cardiff.

Disagree. They’ve got a squad with a lot of quality and two weeks on the training ground with Hughton will make them a force to be reckoned with,

I’d take the point right now - they’ll rocket up the table.

The Franz Carr derby.

i think this season they are completely unbalanced and still have that play off nightmare in their heads, never a better time to play them i think

A better time would’ve been last week

Will BB score against his old club? Will they regret cashing on for only £6m?

These are the questions.

I think I'm pretty sure what the answer to question 2 will be.

This game will let us know Mowbrays plans regarding Gallagher, as you'd assume he will be 100% fit by then. I think most of us will be extremely pissed off if he starts.

I can see a very open game with a decent number of goals, 3-1 Rovers*

*Based on Gallagher not being in the starting 11

Pinched this from Bavarian Rover..

Don't exactly know how they create this category of Big Chance 35%+ but it rather suggests we should stuff Forest.

The top 2 in that are a direct result of us panning them....

Five players including Williams out of the RoI squad today but only one is Covid positive.

Looks like Del is quarantined through contact at least which I guess rules him out next Saturday and solves Mowbray's back line conundrum.

If Gallagher starts I will be frustrated. Forest under a new manager should be much more expansive than Cardiff, and if we score first I have faith in our ability to control the game. Big if though.

Hughton has never been 'expansive'.

If Williams is Covid positive.

Did he get it at Rovers???

Will be very nervous about Rovers (and Cardiff and officials) players and staff testing positive before the Forest game.

Fortunately, he has been with the RoI squad just long enough to have caught it on the journey to Ireland

Same 11 as started vs Cardiff for me bar the cb’s. If Del is out then we start with Lenihan and Ayala.

Forest will not be sitting back in their first game under a new manager, they’ll be in our face, pressing, winning every ball they can and fighting to get 3pts. If you think it’ll be anything different then you’re in for a shock come Saturday 5pm

You said 'expansive'. That isn't what 'expansive' means.

He'll definitely want to start off by getting a result to stop the rot. I'd expect him to be happy with an away draw and I'm expecting Forest to be set up to get one. If they can pinch a win all the better from his point of view. He's had long enough to put a bit of his stamp on the team.

I think our biggest problem on Saturday will be Forest being the opposite of expansive. Hughton is a naturally cautious manager and they’re playing against the highest scorers in the league. My guess is they’ll get 11 behind the ball, be as organised as possible and try to nick one....that’s not good for us. We struggle with teams who do that.

I think pressing in itself is definitely expansive, covering large spaces etc..

Argh come on pal, I’m with you on most things. I just think you probably used the wrong word in expansive. “In our face”, “pressing hard” etc is on point...expansive in football terms is when a team opens up on the opposition. Play progressively and often leave spaces in behind because they feel they will score more goals than the the opposition....that’s not what Forest under Hughton will do against free-flowing Rovers! Not imo

Expansive refers to space, I think they'll be expansive, and I look forward to proving as such on Saturday at 5pm. They will not sit back, they're DESPERATE for three points.

Expansive relates to attacking football, using the full width of the pitch. You used the wrong term.

Apparently if you test positive for Covid on international duty, you are not named.

So it appears the player who might formerly have been known as Del, tested positive on Sunday, negative on Monday morning and positive again on Monday afternoon.

Ten days from Monday afternoon explains why he would be ruled out for the Watford game as well as the Forest match.

Blackburn v Reds Match comments

Mate of mine, a Bristol City fan, said Forest were excellent against them a couple of games back, should've won. We can't take this game lightly, they've a strong squad & a manager who knows how to get results in this league.

That said, we've got to be confident & be on the front foot from the off. Assuming there's no Holtby or Rothwell, I like Rev's team. A little concerned about Ayala & Douglas being new to the back 4, but worth giving it a go with Bell benches.

Options off the bench are v promising, with Elliot likely to get a 25 minute run out whether we're struggling or cruising.

Lightweight line up.  I think we struggle today.

To be fair I was expecting their team to be stronger as well

Just spotted an old familiar face on the touchline - Steven Reid. Didn't realise he was part of the backroom staff for Forest now.

Hoofing it up to Dolan doesn’t seem to be working.

Grabban is dangerous player. Wouldn’t be a surprise if he scored

No shots on target 30 mins in

Brereton looks poor and off the pace. Evans looks like he’d rather be playing for NI.

Forest sitting in

Rope a dope

Midfield three not good enough so far.

Absolutely turgid stuff so far. Both teams have been shocking

What is Grabban's beard all about??

Willing to be patient, really believe this is going to be one of the toughest fixtures this season

Slightly random but Chris Hughton reminds me of Gus Fring off breaking bad

Exactly what I’ve been thinking, shows how interesting this half has been

What a prick Colback looks with the ginger 12 year hair doo and the stupid tatoos

That was shite

1-0 either way written all over this.

We’re just luring them into an incredibly well disguised trap.

Credit to Hughton who's got Forest well organised which is putting Rovers off.

I’m not displeased; I expected Grabban or Lolley to score early, Rovers fight back, etc. lots  of game to be played, anything is possible.

Bollocks Evans is back out

Absolute garbage. Worst for a long time. No guile, pathetic passing, Armstrong anonymous.....except for his usual offside. Brereton back to his old self....galloping into nowhere......and did you see Lolley leave him dead when he got his shot away just outside the box?  Johnson contributing little and as for Evans.....I never want to see him again; poor in every aspect of play. What was Kaminski doing when Forest hit the bar. Dolan looking like the kid he is. I don’t think the new tactic of playing long high balls to him is working!! Nyambe the only player looking capable of creating anything. Ayala the best player we have so far.

Sneaky feelin Forest'll nick this

You know your Rovers

Brereton must win more fouls than almost any other player.

Good job Forest are crap too.

Be amazed if we don't lose this late on.

Rovers look what they always have been under Mowbray - an average mid-table side.

Lyle Taylor coming on ?
He's done us before too, at charlton.

f*****g hell, who is this bloke with a pink mop on his head?

If its Lyle Taylor,  I would have liked him here. Always liked him

Done it for cancer awareness to be fair.

This has been awful. We've been shite and forest have had about 58 men behind the ball at all times. We play so much better when not favourites. We have to learn how to break sides down if we want to progress.

Brereton's purple patch is over.  Time to ditch him from the first team.

The purple patch without one goal. Says all we need to know.

Jesus, blow the whistle ref!!!

Fek sakeeee

1-0 Forest. So so so so so Rovers. Enjoy that first win lads. FFS.

well back to normality

Bradley Johnson pub league player

Precisely. Exactly what we deserved. Piss poor all over the pitch. Pitiful.

Back to earth with a bump. Really wish we got a late winner just once , always against us

Completely undeserved, but that's football for you.

Also I can see why Hughton struggles to get jobs, despite being successful. Turgid football.

His team won the game. That's all that counts

We had 61 percent possession. Forest had 15 shots and 4 on target, we had 6 and 2 on target. We have to invite teams onto us that come to defend instead of trying to pass around the edge of the area all game, it simply doesn't work for us. We are better on the counter, and harrying teams that are passing it around at the back.

Hughton will be loving that. Pack the defence, disrupt the opposition, hit them late on. Perfect for him.

Mowbray has always struggled to break teams down like that.

Can't say we deserved anything else. Forest had 15 shots to our 6 and 4 on target compared to our 2. Nothing to do with luck. They had more chances and took one of them, whereas we had less chances and took none of them. Two goalless games and two insipid creative performances gives Mowbray perfect reason to shake the team up.

There are a lot of players out there today who should only be called upon in the event of an injury crisis. Bell, Evans, Gallagher and Brereton at the very least. £12m down the drain as far as the last two are concerned but it's obvious neither are up to it. I appreciate Brereton works hard but he doesn't contribute with goals at all and only the odd assist here and there. Not good enough for what we need - Harvey should take his place immediately. Johnson isn't consistent enough to be a starter but will be needed for the bench.

Thankfully we do have numerous options for the midfield, so I'm not as concerned about that as I have been in previous years. Hoping Arma will start scoring again when surrounded by better, more creative players. Dack also can't return soon enough.

They’ll be right up there will Forest no matter how dire their tactics.

We were very unlucky to lose.

Many players out.

It happens, we have to learn and move on.

Dire tactics? They had 15 shots to our 6 !!!!

Theres nothing wrong with siting back and letting a sterile attacking team have the ball in non-dangerous areas to nullify our main attacking threat, whilst getting forward in numbers when you do get the ball.

And they hit the bar.

Yep, they'll grind out a lot of results with that style of football. I feel sorry for their fans.

New manager for them and we had how many out?  Lucky goal.  Next.

Hughton's Forest defended a point as least of their intentions but always posed a threat of getting all 3 and never of leaving Ewood pointless.

We were bloody toothless for 90 minutes, Mowbray needs to look at that and ask why.

When was the last time we nicked a 1-0 away from home in stoppage time? Regardless of how well Bell has played defensively in recent matches we have to get Douglas in straight away to give us something going forward. On another note, Chris Hughton has a hex over us. I may be imaging it but we hardly ever seem to beat his sides. I knew as soon as he was appointed we were in for some pain today.

A bloke who will get Forest promoted. Meanwhile, we will continue to flatter to deceive.

I said when they appointed him they'd finish the season above Rovers.

Thought it was a textbook away performance.
I’d be thrilled as a Forest fan, yes.

Joe lolley is our modern day scholes, always has an impact against us , knew when they scored it would be him

Didn't see the game but what I do know is Hughton walked into a mess, a team that's lost it's first four games, yet somehow has contrived to get off to a winning start against a manager whose side has been 'evolving' for three and a half years.  Hughton knows the game inside out and hats off to him tonight.

If Hughton was in our dugout we would not have lost that game today.

Who is the best manager out there available? Had we been quick we could had Houghton, what a difference he made on his first game for these lot.

Forest were well organised like Cardiff were but I thought that they were lucky for the whole of the game. They had the rub of the green. In the last 30 minutes I lost count of the times I shouted at my screen, "You jammy gits!". Even their goal was a jammy deflection.

So annoying.

Ameobi and the guy with a pink hat on looked far more dangerous than our lot.

Not a good performance  - but unlucky to lose to an ultra defensive forest.

We missed Rothwell drive from midfield and seemed to play far too many long balls.

Doran - is he a flash in the pan? Poor today.

I am probably alone but thought BB did ok with limited opportunities to shine.

I've just got back from a week away, ''watched the game'' in a Mercure Hotel on Final Score, funny thing is i really enjoyed it, even if most of the time it was the score 0.0 rolling along the bottom of the screen every few minutes with the odd exciting of announcement .. 'now over to Ewood Park' .. and an update. Quite surprised to hear Figs mentioned and then Yates as all sorts of formations and potential starters. But of all the potential outcomes the 0.1 with a late winner seems the best, most solid, demon expelling, structured start to CH's first game. I'd of loved a 3.5 or something but it wouldn't of suggested anything other than chaos theory and short term enthusiasm. The first game, 0.1, late winner, similar players/formation but just well engineered, this is what i like about having a lift engineer in charge. I think we win the next 4 games. Thanks Joe.

Reds v Rotherham comments.....

Chris Houton is a boring git and his sides are great at defending! Will we have enough to score and also they break quick! They've signed a fast frog so they'll be quick ont break!

Forest got a good win on Saturday at Blackburn and their new manager has a superb record in defence. I doubt we will have many chances tonight so need to take them if any come along. Like Norwich, Forest have some good attacking players in the likes of Grabban, Yates, Lolley, Freeman and Ameobi to name just a few. A point here would be some result. A win would be the first in 65 years at the City ground.

I wake up every morning and think that I am blessed that I have interests that extend further than an obsession with slagging off Paul Warne every waking hour.
My new guitar arrived Friday. I've been a Rotherham United supporter all of my life, but music in general and guitars are my passion. Got this baby last Friday. Someone once told me that I can make a guitar cry. This guitar almost made me cry the first time that I plugged it into an amp.

This is a football site not this is your life talk about me not sticking to the post there is a match on.

LOL. You and your mate were doing my crust in with your obsessive hatred of anything pertaining to Rotherham United.

Are Forest still sniffing around Crookes?

Might have an eye on another bid in Jan.

I understand squad rotation but resting our best player after just 5 games?

No Knockeart?

Can't knock that selection.

We have 65% possession, after 3 minutes, yet Forest had 2 shots on goal.

Neither team having much time on the ball.

Forest very organised and getting plenty pf bodies behind the ball when we have the ball.

This sky commentator is getting on my tits! Aren’t they supposed to be impartial?

Nobody looks threatening yet.

"Little Rotherham starting to prove troublesome" - Tosser.

We look very laboured. Everything seems like it's too much effort. What is up with crooks these days, hes just not on it. Early days, but this game is starting to look like the last championship campaign.

Hope this is not a kiss of death but Grabban looks to have lost it.

Looks like two teams not entirely high on quality battling like crazy but think that many mid table teams will be like this.

A fairly dull first half but as the away side that suits us. Yet again we dont look out of place against a team with a lot of good players in it. See what the second half brings, but encouraging so far. Think I might log off after 85 mins to spare myself the pain! Lovely guitar that, TC. I play a bit but probably not to your standard. My audiences have been known to cry. I have a Washburn that was bought for me by my parents 31 years ago, and it is my prize possession. My favourite to play at the moment though is a Yamaha 3/4 sized electro acoustic that we recently bought my eldest daughter as a birthday present. Loads of fun! Up the Millers.

Pen! Who's taking it? Dan - THE MAN!

Very soft that but we'll take it.
0-1

That was probably the most reluctant award of a penalty I've ever seen from a ref! Seemed to be spending ages thinking of reasons not to give it. Clear trip on 'Tiger' Jones.

Woody lost his man there. Should have been the equaliser.

Wow what a miss.

This Feckin ref.

This ref won't be happy until they score.

Living dangerously. They hit the post after Crooks gives the ball away in a good position.

Looking very vulnerable down either flank after those subs.

This is going to be a long 20 minutes.

We can cut down their right at will.

Forest chucking everything but the kitchen sink, we need a break away, & get a decisive 2nd goal.

Great goal by them.

Had to happen. Ragged defence.

Christie causing problems all night down our left.

What a ric from Icky.

Can we have a shot at goal please?

****ing ref would save it for them.

Well done lads but another what if story, on to the next.

Excellent result in the end. We've played much better and lost. Well done lads.

Hard earned point and not a little fortunate. Probably the worst we've played this season, shame after a more fluent game on Saturday but lost half of the defence and it showed.

After the Millers goal getting peppered by the Forest team, Rotherham showed their salt & held on for a precious point, well done lads.

Good point but a shocking last 30 minutes, ran out of steam again! What’s happened to the fitness?

They don't half put you through it don't they? Not a great game but a good battling performance and a well earned point. I'd have taken that before kick off so well done lads.

Happy with the point in the end but substitutions nearly cost us again, Why take miller off who had been attacking and defending well all game on the left side?

Well they say luck evens up and it certainly did tonight. How Grabban missed that late chance I don’t know. It must go down as one of the great misses. Time we had a bit of good fortune. Great point.

Rode our luck at times.

I thought a point was a fair result they hammered our defence for twenty mins but the main thing that we can take from this is the silly mistakes have gone.

Best we could hope for. We battled, can't ask no more. Our keeper kept us in the game but rest of the side couldn't fault.

It was disappointing to drop those two points after being in front again but were we a little lucky not to lose all three???!

I reckon we've just reclaimed all the bad luck that we've experienced in the past 4 games. A great point!

Reds v sheep pre match comments.....

Shake hands on a draw please? Can’t bare watching us again at the moment.

I fear we are going to be on the end of a robust dicking.

Sadly, I think this will be Cocu's last game as manager if we lose. Especially if we lose and play as badly as we have been.

I hope he's gone before then.

As usual. Depends how crap Forest are to what they get

They might be worse than us

I’m booking a weekend away specifically to try and avoid this game - plus all the fall out from it.
I wish I was joking.

absolutely dreading this,my forest supporting colleagues and acquaintances are frothing at the mouth in anticipation of thrashing us.
Oh god

Try having a missus who’s one of them.

Will not be watching, will not even be following the game.

Dont think it’s Cocu’s fault but very jaded by it all and fully expecting a defeat

Send the whole squad round to see Wayne and coleen so they all have to self isolate, games postponed until February we come good and smash em.

I know we’re bad, but I must’ve missed Forest turning into world beaters.

But isn't that what's so worrying? They're not yet a lot of people still have no expectation of even a draw.

Can’t wait for Knockaert to get his obligatory goal against us

I hate that it's the gumps because, even though it seems totally irrationally based solely on the opponents, if we lose there'll be a still louder clamour for Cocu's head.

Lawrence and Waghorn obviously won't be fully fit, but will get there soon. Ibe and Bielik are having their first runouts for the U23s the same day as this so will be in contention (all being well) fairly soon. Sibley may be back from injury for this and able to take a place on the bench. For me Cocu gets at least till Christmas and I hope the full season.

Bench for this: Roos, te Wierik, Forsyth, Bird, Sibley, Whittaker, CZR

I would love it if the game kickstarts our season, with an epic win. Sibbo off the bench to score the winner in injury time. Keep the faith!

On paper, that side is more than good enough to give Olympiakos B a game. Another bad result/performance and I think it's bye bye Cocu.

If losing to forest guaranteed Cocu's departure, I would take it.

I wouldn't take losing to F*rest in any situation.

Losing to Forest is worse than pooping myself

Derby 2-1 on friday night

I say we smash 'em 6-0 and go on a 40 game unbeaten run.

4-1 to Derby  maybe 4-0

If we beat the red dogs 6-0 i don't think i'd mind if we lost the next 40 games!

I don't want us to lose, but I've conceded that we will so I'm  softening the blow by thinking at least Cocu may finally be shown the door as bad as that sounds. I guess they are thinking in the same way, I've got used to us getting a point at best against Forest now so It would be a miracle to get a point with how poo we are at the minute.

If nothing else,it will be interesting to see just how many games we can lose or fall further towards relegation before Mel's sphincter implodes.

Have we ever gone into a this local Derby in recent times with such low expectations?

Exactly. We can’t keep blaming the injuries. Lack of shots and positive football is very concerning. How much longer do we give him? I know the players are as much to blame but certain managers can give teams a lift, more confidence and play more direct which were missing. I want cocu to succeed as he’s had terrible luck but if we carry on we’ll get relegated. Even if we beat forest I can’t see our style of play being enough to get us out this position come the end of the season. We’re on our worst run probably since 07-08 if you count the back end of last season too.

Just another game with no atmosphere and very little interest either before after and that’s win or lose - football has no meaning currently and I wouldn’t just say that because we have only won one game

I can understand why we are dreading this game, Forest are flying after their lucky 1-0 win at Blackburn and their scintillating 1-1 draw with Rotherham last night. Come on! They’ve got problems too! Could this even be a relegation 6 pointer?!
