I get what Reg is saying though Zico - why bring Lyle on to play on right?

To give us more physicality too I guess.

just a post match thought ...

... did we fail to win {AGAIN} because we primarily set up not to lose? (sub considerations: giving feeble teams too much respect, allowing teams alot of pitch and time to stroke it about, maybe even encouraging teams to decide {whence standard defence is proving leaky} 'why not attack' as a form of defence) .. hence we concede first?

.... yes the plan went extremely well, besides of course conceding first and really struggling to score goals, the latter point taking me back to my initial question

... this has inspired another question, yes organisation is good, well it is meant to be .. but assuming the focus is predominantly on not conceding .. we seem better and more decisive at defending when all our players over over commited, wanton abandon reigns supreme, yet we seem to defend more decisively and before you know it we back on the attack, in the game and pushing for the winner .... mmm

Sorry to be the grinch but my glass is half empty regarding that match. A bright start but as the match found it's pattern it was clear we couldn't play through the middle and the long balls just give possession away with Grabban up front. So we had to waste 50 minutes until we went behind / it became the conventional time to make substitutes.

I'm not taking positives from the latter part of the match. Of course we should look better than them, we have much better players than they do. It was a case of poor tactics, an individual error and 2 points lost.

I'm not going to have a go at the manager because whilst it was like Groundhog Day to me I'll give him it cos he's new. But we need to start beating these weak teams quickly while we have this easy run.

And why shouldn't you Stirred. It makes perfect sense to be pessimistic and down taken the situation we are in. We have only assembled one of the best squads in the league and we have hired a proven manager that has done it before in the Championship. It has disaster written all over  :D

Eh?!

I’m not pessimistic and I didn’t suggest the season has disaster written all over it. Indeed I think we have a promotion quality squad, that’s why I’m so frustrated we needlessly dropped the 2 points in an easy match.

Easy match ?? That’s being disrespectful to Rotherham . They played very well and matched Forest for long periods . The effort their whole team put in was a credit to the manager and his team . We have no divine right to win football matches and although we should have won with the chances we created in the final 20 mins we have to give CH time to access his team and get them how he wants to play .

Yes, an easy match. It's not disrespectful, it's simply true. Look at their players, their results. They're an easy fixture!

Nowhere have I said we have a divine right to win a match. I said we have much better players than them. That's a fact, and that combined with how the players actually performed is why we should have won it. They didn't have quality, just energy. They put bodies in midfield and ran around a lot and we should have had the quality and nous to beat it.

I also said that I'm not going to have a go at the manager cos he's new.

You might want happy vibes, not like to hear the criticism, but its fair comment.
