It is still possible, although starting on zero points after 4 games makes it harder.

So far we have 12 points in 7 CH games, which is 1.71 pts per game, which is usually enough for a playoff spot. But that is for 46 games not 42.
42x1.71 =71.82 which is actually more points than we got last season. But last season was the lowest 6th place total since 2012/13.

It's far to early to completely rule out making a claim for the playoffs, there are still lots of questions to be answered. CH has made a decent start, hopefully we can kick on.

Just looked at the 2010/11 season (we finished 6th on 75 points).

After 11 games we were on 13 points.

So even though we had a really dreadful first 4 games, we have pulled it around pretty impressively.

Performance wise I would still say we are only playing at about 5 out of 10.

We have loads of room for improvement.

Grabban, Lolley, Knockaert and Freeman are still in second gear.

Things can only get better IMO.

Positivity (among fans) is coming back after the dreadful end to last season. I'm happy with both Marinakis and Hughton, and with being a RED.

I didnt see anyone on our subs bench who I thought would have changed the game.

100% SM. In fact our sub "arguably" brought us down and cost us the game. Maybe Ameobi could have come on and caused problems, but the starting XI were playing very well so why change it for sake of it.

We have a bloated squad of average players. Our reserve team and 3rd team if such things existed would both look OK on paper.....on grass not so much. This 9 subs shite just means even more dross in our matchday squad for me.

Having 3 full backs on the bench today shows he wont give youth a chance, that bench was so uninspiring, think hes the right manager at the wrong time, sadly think he will be gone by the season ends

I think you have a point on recruitment, but it doesn't answer the question entirely. It would be nice to have another forward, but Taylor, Grabban, Guerrero & Mighten isn't bad. To have 2 injured or ill is a bit unlucky - and if Hughton willingly left Mighten out then that's on him. (Why wasn't that asked about in the interview?)

I think we got carried away buying 'experience' in the summer, but we shouldn't dismiss the strength of the squad lightly. Even if it's 'average', we've played a lot of lower half sides this season and opponents like Barnsley, Derby and Coventry have made subs and changed the game in their favour. I don't think they have stronger squads than ours.

I don't think we're making the best of ours, and if Hughton doesn't start utilizing his subs wisely I think like it or not it'll cost him his job.
