Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager

I just don't want to switch managers anymore. I am tired of it and it hasn't gotten us anywhere further .

I feel exactly the same and I'm sure 8 out 10 fans would share that view but what's frustrating is that we all know what's coming unless we get a few wins quickly and performances improve markedly.

I was all for Warburton going. I thought his football was dull as dishwater to watch with no end product or penetration. He wanted to bring in 2nd rate players who he felt he could make into top players. He then wanted to start loaning other clubs' youngsters and playing them at the expense of our own. It was a small club ethos and in my humble opinion, a tread-water approach.

This time it's different with AK. There's definitely a good coach in there I'm sure but he's taking some time to get results. If it's not sorted quickly ( I give him 5 games), then he's going to get fired. That's just the way it is whether we like it or not.

Maybe we should all be e-mailing the chairman and expressing the view that we'd prefer to stick with him?

The football has been dreadful, his signing either look like they’ll take a long time to settle or they look poor. He’s left us short upfront and sold a good prospect even though he probably won’t be here come Christmas.

Your not far wrong, I think those next 2 home league games will determine his future. I hope things turn around, but from what I've seen he's still going to stick with Watson and colback, and little chance of changing formation.

karanka needs to start getting results to help himself.

playoff teams last season:

derby last season had 3 wins from their first 11 matches but then went onto 5 win in a row. they made the playsoffs.

Boro had 4 wins from their first 13 matches losing 4 of them,. similarly enough they went onto win 4 in a row from there.

fulham had 4 wins from their opening 17 matches. losing 5 of them. from December on they clicked . unbeaten in 23 games.

I don't think he's got 2 weeks to prepare the team. Some players are away on international duty or injured and you'd image the others are taking some time off to rest.

I bet it'll be at least a week today before preparations proper can begin for the Swansea game.

I feel exactly the same as you mate. unfortunately I have heard some negative details from within the club from a couple of weeks ago that weren't looking good then. I hope we can get a result v Swansea its a big game for karanka.

Oh god, that's not good. If there's those kind of negative snippets circulating within the club then it's bad news. AK does look under pressure to me. Are you able to elaborate any?

I agree with what you’ve written here. Karanka felt like a big step up. I know EM isn’t renowned for his patience but it does seem a bit odd to be considering a new manager when we’ve only lost 1 game in 8.

I think we’re all aware of our chairman’s record with managers at oly. As fans we shouldn’t use that as an excuse to share the same mentality. We need to back the manager as much as possible even if the support only gives him a few extra games that could be enough to click. Current example Man Utd fans applaud their team off after they got battered by spurs, put in a good performance following weekend.

Obviously easier said than done I’m not going to stand and applaud if we keep getting battered. However we did improve second half agaonst Brentford so I guess should applaud that and be positive until we lose to Swansea and he gets sacked!

Ridiculous calling for his head. Unless bottom 3 at Christmas he stays for me. We have a half decent squad and he will get some results soon I’m sure!

This is my mindset at the moment, right or wrong, I feel a lot better about things and may help others who feel disillusioned with AK, I hope it helps, it has helped me, I just hope the essence will prove true ....

I felt probably as despondent as you, in fact I personally felt so disillusioned about him back in January, after beating Wolves then losing in the cup to Hull, I put together a torrid poisonous torrent of abuse about AK.

Feeling it unfair to any person or human being, I called it Karankerism.

I had hallucinations about Karankerism (collectively a full on amalgamation of: revolving door, cheque book, shitt on the academy, dour, negative, seemingly cowardly tactics and poor communication) also as it wasn't and hasn't started working I became like a rabid rottweiller purist on acid. I wheeled all the statistics out 11 wins in his last 55 games or whatever. I would fight and argue and throw insults at anyone and everyone ... I got banned from a forum I had been posting on for 4 years ... maybe justifiably so.

But I was hurting and depressed and I guess I liked the argument though and couldn't really respect anyone who bought into what we seemingly have now.

Let me share this with you ... everything will be ok, that doesn't automatically mean to start planning your trip to Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge just yet.

NFFC has the most powerful heritage in this league and more powerful than most of the teams in the PL and has the owner and resources (eg Olympiakos) to get to the PL and stay there

I don't want to be to unfair on Karanka, but he is a puppet, he either re-metamorphisees into the awesome manager he can be results wise or he will be gone, at the moment he is miles away from being a good manager and even further from having the strength of results to put more positive, offensive, exciting, Forest values into the squad.

I was hoping on match days for Karankerism to crash and burn every match day and it usually has happened ...

... but now I have changed my mind, I know it will all come together, with or without Karanka, probably without, but if he can accept a kick up his ass and eat some humble pie and grow a pair he could have a future ..

I think Marinakis will tell him what he has to do now, Marinakis is helping him and supporting him to the hilt

I am not a fan of the tycoon, making huge piles of profit, but I am incredibly confident that Marinakis invested in NFFC because of our heritage and that he knows we can be incredibly successful, he can sell more shirts around the world to Forest fans than Brentford shirts or Bournemouth shirts or even Olympiakos shirts

In Athens it is either Olympiakos or AEK, Marinakis is playing on the biggest stage in Greece, it is related to their politics, culture and everything

He bought Nottingham Forest for a reason, not Millwall or Southend, these are nothing and always will be nothing in the scheme of things

Nottingham Forest has the most unique heritage, the most zero to hero story, it has huge appeal and even bigger potential.

A good manager, decent, loyal to players, fans, ways of playing isn't what Forest needed now but will in the future.

For the time being it is cheque book and revolving door to get things done quicker which means more mistakes, more players, more seeming disappointment but .... I am convinced now it is the quickest and Marinakis doesn't want to be hanging around, he is brutal but for NFFC in a good way.

Marinakis knows what Forest fans want, everything and he is the best we could of hoped for in many ways.

This Yacob signing has really flagged up a few concerns. I think it's just a bizare philosuphy to add "better" players constantly irrespective of position.

How does that build a team? How does that build a unit? How does that address weak areas in the side?

It's a Man U philosiphy for top teams who can afford to do that. Not a philosiphy for a Champ club who could face FFP

Yes add quality when it's availble, but prioritize team balance first, and also temper that with squad size & club wage.

If this is AK's only approach I do start to question if he's the right man for us long term, because it's a modus operandi built for a club which has recently seen Prem income & parachute payments, and we haven't.

It's just not a sustainable approach unless we go up.

I am convinced the owner has absolutely stratospheric ambitions probably beyond our comprehension!

The owners agreement with Karanka was probably that the managers role was to bring in the hatchet and revolving door with free licence to hire and fire and loan at will.  Though the significant financial outlay and pivotal players Marinakis will have had direct involvement with.

I now accept AK isn't about being likeable or popular or sentimental or idealistic or arm round the shoulder. He can hire and fire relentlessly on a more industrial scale than anyone, this is what I think Marinakis saw on his CV, it has to be an AK type coldness and brutality.  I don't have to like it but I will accept it as short term pain for long term gain.

With the players at AK's disposal he should get some winning runs going, if it doesn't work out the owner is probably already making plans for Dec 30 as time is of the essence.
