Yates is the one I really feel sorry for. Wonder why he didn't go on loan to Rotherham? It'd have been a far better move for him than staying here.

Yes, with the amount of DM's we now have that's Yates season over probably. Unfortunate for him, but after Walker, Smith, Worrall & Brereton, perhaps not that surprising.

We're getting ahead of ourselves if we think Yates is going to be good enough for us this season.

As someone who has followed his development I strongly disagree, no one is getting ahead of themselves.

He might not be ready to carry an entire team on his shoulders, for 46 games, but he's certainly ready to play a part, & certainly better than 7th choice & sitting at home.

I'm not saying he's not a good player and in any other season he could well have been steadily introduced into the team and then taken out as and when needed. But, AK and the club still seem to be under the impression that they're 'going for it' this season (I personally think they're delusional and we're nowhere near even being a top 6 side).

Yates hasn't even made a 1 championship start yet in his career so there's no way the club are going to have the patience to bring him through.

I really hope this works out for Karanka, personally it smells of desperation on Karankas point, he is still adding players to a team, that he admits that he doesn't know who is best starting 11 is.

Surely by adding more players, to an ever increasing squad, is going to hinder him on deciding which is his best starting 11

More pace and power upfront would seriously help. As would improving the creativity behind the front 3 or 1

So the Iranian could be one. (keep calling him that as cant spell his name)

Sako of the free agents would be good - if he has got the right attitude.


Emmanuel Emenike – may be one The 31-year-old had a loan spell at West Ham in 2016, but scored only twice in his 16 appearances. a former Nigeria international, has been released by Olympiakos this summer which could fit the mold.

If looking for another big but fast lump upfront then ex Everton loanee Lacina Traore, could be another free option and just 29 years old. Released by Monaco this summer, he is nicknamed the ‘Big Tree’ as he is 6ft 8in. Still only 28, although didn’t have a great time at the Toffees, could he do a job in the Championship?

It always goes that way!

AK and the club have been talking up promotion and the expectations from fans (who are already an expectant bunch anyway) have been raised to ridiculously high levels.

We haven't been in the prem now for 20 odd years and have looked nowhere near a promotion candidate for the last 5 or so.

I can understand AK asking for more and more players, why wouldn't he - he's going to get sacked anyway and it wont be him having to do a tidy up job when it all comes crashing down.

I rate Yacob but i'm baffled as to why we're signing him .
Surely we have enough depth in that position.
If Watson still get's a starting spot with all these midfielders i think i will cry.

I really hope you're right and he isn't a favourite of AK and that he'll be ruthless enough to just leave him out completely.
He clearly isn't the same player of a few years back.
Even if Yates or Bridcutt don't  start i'd much rather see one of them on the bench than Watson.

Which was the point, he's now out of the picture & his season (at least to January) is now over.

I personally think we should have used Yates this season, in a support role, I appreciate we have a manager with a different opinion, that's OK, that's part of the game, but on deciding not to use him the alternative should have been to develop him further with footballing opportunities elsewhere.

I'm so disappointed in AK, we seem to be signing players with no coherent plan ( tho I appreciate they not be AK choices) it's quality we needed not quantity, we've had quantity before and look where that got us! The more players we get under contract the bigger the mess to clear up when Karanka goes, which lets face it if things carry on as they are will be sooner rather than later.

tbf here, our worst players have been our deep holding midfielders, the two we are bringing in have spent there whole careers at the top level.

lets hope he has just seen what we have lately and changes it, which looks likely.
