I cannot see myself on this photo, but I was there in front of the Directors box chanting Gillies Out!

You have some great photos, wish I had collected some over the years, always regretted not getting a Brick from the Old Trent End when it was knocked down, so many happy memories in there!

I had every home program from 50 years straight, a lot of material from before then, tickets or stubs for every one of those matches, all our European programs, home & away, all our cup final programs, hundreds of signed photos, a number of match day worn shirts, a library of books, & various other memorabilia from the 1870's on wards.

I then lost it all in a fire.

It was heartbreaking because it wasn't just over a 100 years of Forest things it was a family history too, & so that was it, I don't really collect anything anymore as what I lost was irreplaceable.

My heart goes out to you NG3.

That is such a tragic story  :(

My father has a similar collection to what you had NG3 plus he has an even bigger Cricket collection.

I know how much it means to him (and me) so I can understand where you are coming from.

It really is heartbreaking what happened to you, so sad  :(

Big Sam made 359 appearances for Forest between 1964 and 1977.

That sort of sight was a regular, & a joy to see.

When you saw the players out & about, regular people, you felt more connected to them, like they really were OUR team, rather than expensively imported strangers.

For me one of the big differences was, in those days, you might get one or two lagging behind to sneak a crafty smoke. You wouldn't get that now.
