Opposition Fans Comments
Reading Fans Pre Match Comments.....

Reading are off to Nottinghamshire on Saturday, pretty much a year to the day since the last visit, hoping to avoid yet another pointless exercise in keeping a clean sheet and yet another ridiculous and total wasteful game of late substitutions.

Forest have lost 1 of their last 9 league games (at Cardiff in January) and have 2 wins and 3 draws from their last 5. They haven’t been beaten at home this year, have only failed to score in 1 game this year and have turned both Arsenal and Leicester out of the FA Cup (and are currently doing Huddersfield over in the same competition tonight as well). All of that is largely pointless though as Reading have proved themselves to be fairly incompetent against any opposition from any level in pretty much any sort of form.

Should be fun. only need to keep Davis Johnson and Spence quiet.

They lost fairly recently to cardiff

I don’t think they are all that tbh. Seem to have relied on quite a few late goals (worthy in itself of course) but they aren’t amazing by any stretch

Still we’re pretty crap so it’ll be a big struggle. Just hoping Joao/Swift are on form and we can grab a goal or so. And make some useful subs. Don’t hold out much hope mind you

Prob go same team but Dann in for Holmes, Meite and Ejaria for Hoilett and Ince. Or at least one of them

Interesting conundrum for Forest, win and keep their play-off dreams alive but also aid Derby in their survival bid.

Johnson and Spence are lightning quick. Too quick for us I suspect.

Easy 3 points.

Looks on paper like we are going to get a good hiding but we will probably go up there and win 3-0 out of nowhere.

Is it just me, or does anyone else have an utterly irrational dislike of Steve Cooper?

Never met the guy, and he is probably a really good bloke, but I cannot shake my total antipathy towards him

We'll lose but at this stage of the season, you often get surprise results. So who knows, we may fluke a 0-0.

They were on a decent run when we played them at home and I thought we matched them for large parts of the game to come away with a 1-1. No reason why we couldn't do it again, would be delighted with a point.

Our record there in recent times hasn't been too bad, in terms of draws anyway, which I'd take all day long. They seem to be playing really well at the moment but yet the results maybe do not translate to the performances they've been putting in. They can look every bit a play off side, but yet they do drop points in games.

It really depends on how which narrative you want to spin with them really. On one hand, you could say 1 defeat in 6, on the other hand you could say only 2 wins in 6, in the league anyway. Again though, those draws coming against Preston, Sheff United and Stoke who are straight up better than us whereas they've been the likes of Bristol City, Barnsley and Derby since the turn of the year (including Blackburn and Millwall away) so they will be thinking that this game against us is no banana skin and they'll walk away comfortable winners.

I want to believe our decent record of sharing the spoils with them in many games in recent years gives me some confidence of a result, but I also can't see anything other than an easy 2-0 win really.

Another week on the training ground to work on defence. Another week for Ince to assess the players and get his message across.

Forest aren't especially big scorers and they don't have anyone prolific, but they do have two on good numbers.

We know we can do damage going forward.

If we can score first I think we've got a great chance of getting points. If we go behind we probably won't.

I fancy a little something for us.

We have a very strong squad many would love to have. There's no reason we can't get a result ffs

Forest 3 Reading 0.

Lucas Joao has been ill, may miss Forest
- Yakou Meite NOT close to being ready to play 90 mins (even though he played 90 minutes for the U23s)
- Laurent in contention for Saturday
- Hein OUT for the season, gone back to Arsenal
- Hoping to sign a goalkeeper (free agent) tomorrow

Joao is crucially the biggest miss there out of them all, that is for sure, especially if Meite isn't ready for 90 minutes. That would leave us without a recognised CF unless Clarke was to play, which I'm not in favour of. I don't mind the prospect of a free agent goalkeeper though really, I can't understand why we didn't do that the first time.

Reckon Thomas Ince will play upfront if Joao isn't fit.

He can play as a striker. Personally think he might be more suited centrally than as a left winger playing on the right.

Re the keeper position, is It more that Southwood is too inexperienced to play behind the ever changing sitcom that unfolds in front of him every game or just that he isn’t quite good enough for this level?

This one could be a massacre but I am going for 1-0 to us. The last time I went to Forest it was the homecoming of Stuart Pearce our B Team from memory got beat 4-0 and I remember Antonio had a field day against us. Also, fair play as there was one Reading fan giving it large to the Forest fans.

Don't get me wrong, Pantilimon is about my 50th choice in terms of a new goalkeeper but out of the three names I have seen mentioned he fits the profile of what we need currently.

If that's the case, then Derby won't get relegated FFS!

First match I’ve been at for ages
Hope I’m not disappointed

Hmmm
But good luck anyway

Well that was a good start

And game over already. Like it, stops the unnecessary hope.

17 seconds

Who was supposed to be on their wide man? McIntyre was in line with the box and Hoilett was nowhere. Acres of space.

You can`t help but laugh.

All 10 back for set pieces still

Defending deep, no pressure in their half. Not pressing as a team. Errors from Drinkwater.

It's all quite familiar so far.

Balls. Close.

Sounds like you're having a better afternoon that us.

Get that Chelsea prick off

Drinkwater will see red if he isn't subbed. Playing like an absolute clown.

how, how, how can the manager sit Joao on the bench? Time to take his boy off. We need goals, not nepotism.

Oh Josh, not easy, but if you get it on target it's a certain goal

Forest have had 1 shot on goal, and it went in.

The two set piece scrambles were a worry too.

They've been in dangerous positions more than I'd like.

But we're in it if we can just find someone who will finish.

Drinkwater has to come off though. Get Ejaria on. He has many flaws, but he can play in behind Meite, he can keep up with the pace of the game defensively and he can certainly keep the ball better than Pisswater.

HT 1-0
Not our worst performance, really need to be more clinical with our chances though.

Not convinced that P Ince has got us set up right for the game.

At least Derby losing, something to clutch on to.

And as for alcoholic Drinkwater; the man is a liability and needs sending back to Chelsea. We'd get more commitment and effort from a lad in the U21's.

Wondering if Paul Ince will pull his son off today.

My fear is Forest have been poor and maybe much better in the 2nd half.

Anybody who has watched Forest this season knows that most of their attacks come through Johnson and the overlapping Spence.
Dreadful preparation with Tommy Mac tucking inside from the kick-off.
Do we ever watch the team that we are about to play and prepare?-see also last Saturday when there should have been an effective plant to stop Cooper.

Fortunate in some ways that they scored so early as such a goal can often have an effect on the scorers and that has happened here-it also gives us 90 minutes to get back in it.
We are playing ok and would be content if we were not a goal down.
Hopefully Forest stay dragged down to our level in the second half but the pessimist in me says that they will improve.

Seems a very dull game with not really very much happening, Reading offering the standard not very much while Forest seem to be content to just see the game out.

The legacy of Roman Abamovic. Useless p*icks like Drinkwater being paid 120 grand a week, paying tens of millions for him and him not being good enough at even this level.
How the f*ck did he get a PL winners medal. The likes of Kante and Mahrez must have carried him.

Great work Southwood

Rino off, Ejaria on.

Do we insist on laser surgery to.destroy our managers' eye sight on employing them?

How is Pisswater still on the pitch?

Getting battered right now.

There it is. F*ck off Ince. Useless.

Terrible defending, we are down forget it

Gameover.

Southwood no chance

Dann sold himself right up shit creek. So much for him improving us. Dreadful defending.

Has Meite actually contributed anything to the game, can’t recall his name being mentioned that much in the commentary.

Don`t know why anybody expected anything different today.

I just don’t see how we will stay up. We are so desperately poor defensively.

that`s the 70th goal we`ve shipped this season.

We’re desperately poor all over the pitch. I watched the Barnsley game today and it grieves me to say but they’re a better TEAM than us. Technically better, they have a game plan and they’re much more aggressive. Tbh we deserve to be relegated and it’s been coming for years now.

f**k, Three.....Pathetic.

How we've not been in the bottom 3 all season is a complete mystery to me

They are not even that good making us look like a non league team.

Another hammering. I can’t see where the next point is coming from.

Derby aside, it's incredible there are 2 worse teams than us.

3 goals from 4 shots on target again. Ridiculous

Ok, so Paul Ince identified the problems. Said the right things.

He's then failed to do any of the simple things he should have done to improve us.

Four games in. Two full weeks of proper training.

Just not good enough.

Good GRIEF

Four!!!!!!!

Well Ince is quite clearly failing as interim

Is there a plan b?

Turn Mad Stad into a Ukrainian refugee centre and use the players wages for food and clothing?

I'd take Paunovic back like a shot rather than watch this inept tactical bullshit.

That makes you an idiot then.

Thing is, we've gone wide open and fallen apart at 2-0 down without even pressing hard for one to come back.

And half of the defence are blaming Southwood for going safety first with the shit passes they keep giving him.

Forest aren't even good. They have a great RB and that's it.

It’s a shame that Anton isn’t still the owner - then we’d have a legitimate reason to fold the club and all get on with our lives.

Derby 2 down

Another truly dismal result, another unthreatening and lifeless performance, haven’t seen cr@p like this over such a sustained period since Terry the Taxi.

Reading The Aftermath......

I was actually optimistic about Ince. English manager with something to prove. Bit naive

The team is rancid at the moment. I hope we shift out most of this team in the summer and try and build again. Brandon Barker looks promising so i would keep him on. I would rather see players like Clarke come through and play more rather than some of the first 11 we have now

I hope we are in talks with somebody like Warnock please don't give Ince the job

Well, he's certainly performing as you'd expect for one of the Dad's roped in as an emergency.

Our best 2 results in months were when our manager got sacked and our new manager hadn't had time to do any managing.

This is just a consequence of allowing a shit manager to stay and poison the confidence and form of the squad way beyond anything reasonable. If he'd been sacked 6 games earlier, we might be in a different position.

Get the losers Ince and Rae out of our club now!

Shit TV pundit, even worse manager.

Poor old Paunovic resigned because he didn't want the players distracted by the disunity between fans, club and team. Reading FC have jumped out of the frying pan into a sodding furnace!
How did Tom Ince do?

Created our only chance of note.

Excellent. I’m pleased for the manager

LMAO.

Didn’t watch, forgot we were playing. Had a day sesh in town and a had a great day.

Just seen the score. Why didn’t Joao start?

Ince is a fraud and unless we get an actual manager in we are probably going down. Hilarious. Only Reading could get rid of the worst manager in our history and replace him with someone worse. We are a meme. Kinda funny tbf.

Looking forward to a league one tour now. Embracing it. If we fold we fold, this club is toxic and shit anyway.

I just want the season to end now

That was purely a comment and in no way was it in sympathy.

I can't stand Reading and it's plastic fans
