If we turned down £18m in January - before he had arguably his best spell of the season - I can't imagine his people would even suggest a clause so low.

Over the last year they've wanted nothing more than to put themselves in a position where they can dictate an easy out of the club to take up a better opportunity when it comes. This is despite the fact the lad's probably still on 3 or 4k per week on his original contract. So thats cost them around a million quid in lost wages. Imo they aren't going to change their approach now. Their demands will just be getting higher.

I was thinking just because it hasnt leaked in the press doesnt mean that we haven’t had offers coming in for him, we may still get plenty more before the end of August.
I hope he is smart enough to realise he is better off here for this season at very least.

Fantastic news, they don't usually announce details of any release clauses in player contracts so guess we won't find out about that. Hopefully in the 50m+ range now.

In fact it's in our best interest for that information not to be in the public sphere as there is no requirement for that to be made public legally, at least that's what they said about Grealish.

Either way, assuming any release clause is in the 50+ range, that's another 50m bonus for us for getting promoted

If it's low and the Brennans want away, every decent club in the world will know what it is. Anyway, enough of the negativity. If we can announce this, and Cooper's new contract, along with Henderson and maybe even another signing over the next few days we'll be in take-off mode.
