Just my opinion, not saying I know better than Nuno.

Think he gets done for pace, Lewis Potter all over him on Saturday and he is far from the best winger in the PL.

Then he goes wandering up the pitch and gets caught when we lose possession and Centre back gets dragged out of position to cover him.

All of this has happened repeatedly whether we concede from those chances or not. Like I say have a look at what he does properly.

I think this is echoed on the left too. Mangala is not mobile or physical enough to be the screen to allow for adventuring full backs. A deeper Danilo or a fit Sangare changes that

The thing is tho Sal, he is getting assists. Whats that? 2 in the last 2 games?

While he is setting up goals, its a trade off for the not so good things he does in his game, as you have highlighted. 

Does Nuno want to drop players making contributions to goals?

Think it is a bit of a pay off for being much more expansive and braver with the ball. Nuno doesn’t like conceding so I’m sure it will get better…

What is killing us is soft goals due to individual mistakes and IMO Montiel is culpable as are quite a few others.

It always makes me laugh how certain players are good enough for Champions League football at clubs like Napoli, Juventus, Sevellia, Benfica, Marseille etc but they are not good enough for us.

How have each of them had the opportunity to prove that they're either poor or good? They've played a handful of games between them both. We're so quick to come to conclusions. The side, and back 5 in particular, is being chopped and changed every game atm for one reason or another. I've seen enough in Montiel to know he's got something. Less so for Tavares admittedly, but let's give them a chance to bed in before we write them off.

So anyone else fancy Murillo as a LB
recent question marks on his ability in air and his occasional over playing of ball and losing it in bad positions when dribbling.

If we sign another CH and when Niakhate returns hopefully we can address the fact that we have been poor defensively against set peices and crosses.
I don’t know if Murillo has played there in Brazil but i think he could be better applied playing as a inverted LB pushing into CDM when we have the ball , also he can dribble shoot and has the ability to hit a cross feild ball . He would not be as exposed in the air and has defended well against quick wide players when covering the LB .

Don’t honestly think Murillo is a LB but DCM yes I think you may be onto something, more of a sweeper in a back 3.

Answering Pap above absolutely agree about the chopping and changing. If we are ever going to get a clean sheet Nuno needs to choose his first choice team and stick to it. Im sure he will and its one of the reasons he wants a smaller squad. The constant turnover in every position has done us no favours at all.

As much as I've been unimpressed with both, you are 100% right, we should give them time to settle and prove their worth. Just look at Lodi last year.

That said, if you've seen Tavares recent social media posts you might change your tune!
