I don't think we need 50K either.

I think 40K is fine.

Chelsea, Brighton and Villa all recently been in Europe and don't have 50K.

All those teams mentioned are looking to expand though

We never got near 50,000 during the glory years and in those days it was turn up at the gate and pay.

I can only ever remember the turnstiles being closed early because the ground was full on a few occasions. One of those occasions was against Leeds in the League Cup semi final. Me and my mate ended up getting in with the Leeds fans then managed to scarper over the pitch into the Trent End before the match kicked off.

TBF attendances accross the board are much higher now, the game is massively well marketed and the Premier League is so popular.

If you have got 20k season ticket holders, another 11k on a waiting list, there are around 20k home members and then you have away fans.

A top half Prem side in a catchment like we have, could easily get 40k every week ,and for the top 6 sides visiting pushing to 50k

Been saying a long time Wassy that the CG isn’t fit for purpose, not just the PT stand the whole thing needs ripping down.
Would love it if we could buy the freehold and do just that but planning/building would be horrendous and time consuming as we have seen and EM isn’t the patient type.

On the flip side there isnt an easy alternative site and the current location is good so it seems bonkers to relocate. It does seem though that the messages being put out by the club is that moving is preferred.

Yeah surely they've at least got to test the waters on this option. Although downside, can we really get more people in to that area? It's already pretty full, think you'd need to close the roads if there was another 20k people coming in. Plus we'd need to relocate for however long the process took which would mean multiple seasons playing somewhere else, which would mean playing from Notts ground or something more unpalatable like Leicester.

The site becoming available due to HS2 does seem like a pretty big opportunity if they can prove the transport works. Tbh if they could find a site next to the River Trent that would surely be sufficient, does that exist further out of town?!

I'm in the don't want to move camp but agree that a move is likely due to the condition of the entire city ground site and limitations getting it up to scratch.

Also Nottingham's population must have grown by 30%-40% since 1979.

Reading that interview, it does sound like it's a done deal and we'll be actively progressing the Toton option. EM talked about leaving the City Ground as a fact rather than an option, so I hope everyone is ready.
