Blimey that's quite an ask, especially as he says the Colin Fray knows more about the squad than he does!
Most on here think that 5th/6th is realistically the best we can achieve, which puts us into the lottery of the play-offs. To get there we are going to need to go on a good run.

Surely the owner/board have got to allow the full 18 months. I understand that they want promotion, but with Karanka going we must now be in plan B mode.

Marinakis is impatient, why give O Neill 18months, Karanka only got one year.  For me its a 6 month deal, if we don't go up, Martin will have been given a chance but will be moved on.

18 months is so we can go for it this year and if we was the miss out in the play offs he would obviously want to go for it next year.

If we fail miserably O'Neill is willing to go and it won't cost the club fortunes.

I think it's the right choice.

I would imagine if he shows improvement and we either narrowly miss playoffs or lose in playoffs he’d be given next season too. I would’ve thought he’ll have till around about this time next year...

Deserves next season for me. We can't keep chopping and changing.

For me a lot will depend on signings to make a serious challenge this season - is accountability for that with M.O.N or Antigo ? You`d think he would not get sacked this season if we don`t get up given a lot is out of his control and being past mid point of the season. As long as we start looking competitive again I think he`ll get another bash next season ( assuming we dont rip up tree`s )

The fact that the embargo is 10.30pm, rather than the normal 5pm is just because there was a heavy presence there from the national newspapers... which we don't normally see at the CG these days. A sign that O'Neill is a big appointment for #nffc - still a big name in football.

6 months deal … lol … probably true … but 6 months deals signed on 15 Jan do not exist, what you are saying is end of season 12 weeks maximum if no PL next season?

if this is the case Marinakis is a shitting magnet, I really hope not, I will give him the benefit of the doubt and lean towards him having integrity and MON has 18 months

Karanka wasn't sacked he was put down like you would an animal with the mad cow disease and rabies combo, if Marinakis has integrity (which I believe despite our negative default mechanisms after Fawaz) Karanka had lost the plot, if you look miserable for long enough, however good things are, I believe you become irreversibly miserable, never ever seen anyone with such a long face after a fine victory on a good run
