We are a community football club we are not a circus.
I couldn't give a f**k about hotels and casinos etc.
I care about what happens on the pitch at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon.
That is what Nottingham Forest means and is all about.
Currently we are a premier league team which I assume we all want to remain the case. It generates a huge amount of money with a world wide profile. A large number of our competitors have expanded and diversified to further maximise income which is becoming increasingly more important as spending will be linked to income. We have a Greek owner. Most of our competitors have foreign ownership. Being in the premier league is far more than being a community club. If that is as far as our ambitions go then fans need to come to terms with being football also rans knocking around the lower divisions like other community clubs.
So we are currently knocking around the lower divisions are we?
As the vote stay people are constantly having to say, Do Nothing is not an option, we can and will develop the CG to enable us to be competitive without losing our soul.

How are we going to pay for this?

I suppose you will want us to be joining the European Super League next?
As a matter of interest Atalanta, Leverkusen, Olympiakos and Fiorentina who were the four finalists of two of this seasons European competitions don't have casinos, hotels and shopping malls etc.
They are just well run football clubs with average grounds and crowds.
But guess what, they have proved that you can be successful.

Yeah but they don't have to compete with Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea plus actual well run teams like Brighton, Brentford, Spurs (to a lesser extent), Villa in their leagues.
I am aware Oly beat Villa in the actual tournament!
Barring a fluke one off season we're never playing champions league football say without a better stadium/the revenue that comes with it. That's fine, I'm not suggesting that's the only goal, just realistic.
You can be successful in a small stadium, just much less likely. I was on the fence before but all the arguments for staying are pushing me to lean towards new stadium, just doesn't feel like it adds up atm.

Olympiakos stuffed Villa.
Leverkusen stuffed West Ham.
Atalanta stuffed Liverpool.
And that is only this season.
But you can't compete with a small stadium right?

We beat man I this season...and despite their horrific season (by their own standards) we do not and can not compete with them. Beating a team in a cup game, a one off event (even over 2 legs) is always something that is achievable that's the beauty of football. However, put olympiacos, Atalanta and Leverkusen in the premier league l and they wouldn't be competing with these teams.
Our hope is that we can win a cup we can do that of course. Can we be a successful premier league team??? Remains to be seen. If we can bump the CG up then we've gotta stay but if EM wants a successful team that challenges in the Premier League then it may not be enough. Would EM be happy with a league cup here and there. A good FA cup run? Or does he seriously want us to get in to Europe via the league.
Only he can answer that.
We'd all prefer to stay at the City ground

Dress it up however you want but there is ample evidence out there to prove that you can be successful with a 30,000 seater stadium and that having a brand new 50,000 seater stadium guarantees you nothing.

Depends on your definition of success, Leicester is the only team that has won the PL with a stadium capacity of around 30k since Blackburn. No other team has even finished top 4.
Sure, you can do it in other countries that don't have to compete against the top 6 PL teams but unless we move abroad we are not in that position!

I’m leaning towards a new stadium. The city ground is great and full of character but is showing its age despite the cosmetic spruce up. We have 10-15k who can’t get a seat and don’t currently make any money from the ground on non match days- or not nearly enough. The Take That concerts apparently only netted us just into a 6 figure profit - not to be sniffed at but hardly games changing. Doing what we want to do at the city ground will be more expensive than a new stadium.
Toton gives the opportunity to build a stadium fit for national events - being quite central and straight off the M1, that could be used for games that aren’t quite big enough for Wembley. Some women’s internationals, u21 England games - even some England games - its proximity to St George’s park also would be attractive the the England set up in general.
A purpose built stadium gives opportunities for other sports such as boxing and concerts. Traffic infrastructure would be needed but could be great if invested in. If the site is big enough to include an integrated training complex for multi sports as well as our first team and academy then the possibility of revenues increase further. Add in university links and that is another income.
Hotels could be integrated and development of mixed residential and business units around the stadium (like Wembley sprawl) could also be a money spinner.
As regards to the academy it opens up millions into the catchment area.
If done properly it could be an outstanding - game changing opportunity.
Do I want to leave the city ground - no. But the business case in my opinion is a no brainer.

Leicester had a few amazing seasons but due to a lack of infrastructure and revenue generating capacity, that team was gradually taken apart and they were relegated! So even with success you can't sustain it.
Do you think any of the top 6 teams will ever go down? Even Spurs who were previously a similar sized club to us now feel locked in top 10 every year.

Added to my post above - look at the amount of people writhin an hours drive of Toton - it brings South Yorkshire, Derbyshire and parts of Leicester and West Midlands within it.
Within London there is loads of competition yet spurs Arsenal and Wembley all have great revenue from their stadiums.
The lack of competition to host such events in the midlands (especially East Midlands) means that we could be onto a real winner here. If we don’t do it - someone else will.
We just can’t do it on our current site - unless it is enlarged - knocking down the streets behind the brifgford, the boat houses and at a push the environment agency building and we may have scope - but how much would that cost? As well as the freeholds? I’d guess much more than the Toronto site.
