I deliberately didn’t look at the team today, I deliberately didn’t look at result until 5 o’clock, I deliberately didn’t go on the forum until 9 tonight.

No one is more passionate than me about Forest but from time to time we have to take a step back get on with our real lives, give our heads a wobble and realise that as much as we love our club there are things that matter more. 

I hate to see Forest fans bickering, we all have different opinions on how the club should be run, who should manage the team, how the team should play. But we should always respect everyone’s viewpoint even if it’s not our own, we are all fans of club and as I’ve said before will still be here when owners/managers are long gone. 

So perhaps a little perspective is needed. We all have lives apart from the club, we all have responsibilities apart from the club. The only thing most of us have in common is the Garibaldi, so instead of tearing strips of each other respect each other and understand we all have the same goal, to see the club back where it belongs, in the Premiership. 

Argueing and fighting with each other achieves nothing. If we do that we are no better than other forums and Duncan’s hard work is for nothing.  I’ve read some brilliant reasoned debates on here that have made me think hard and maybe change my opinion.

The point where we are disagreeing so much and putting each other on ignore is to me the point where we are no better than other forums, and we are so much better than that.

Let’s get some perspective, things are not great, they are not what we want them to be, who’s fault it is we don’t know but we all support the same team so if we can’t agree on the problem we can still agree on the end goal.

we set out with meticulous plans to achieve total despair and disillusionment

1. check into the forum at 9.30, refresh and read every post until 14.55
2. desperately search around for a river and commentary and fail
3. refresh and read every match day comment during the match, watch final score which is becoming increasingly mediocre
4. view match stats, possession, chances, corners and cards
5. slump, head in hands on conceding
6. find and old episode of Columbo which is half way through, count up the 'just one more question' until reaches double figures
7. check if tyler or Jorge have scored to bring oneself back from suicide
8. Try and feel confident about the next fixture even though they came back from 0.2 down to win 5.2
9. Compound despair edging towards total disillusionment reading every single post vaguely related to NFFC until midnight

Some reactions to today have been well OTT.

If you were to ask me how to identify the daftest section of our support, it would be selecting those who expected MON to change a winning team when he's still getting to know the squad as a whole.

We know what Carva can do, MON will undoubtably have heard, but he aint watched him like we have for months. And the amount of fans that were surprised that the we didn't change a winning team, when playing away to a physical side, when the manager hardly knows the players shows a scary amount of ignorence.

I agree 100% even though some might read that & view me as an offender, but the air of negativity, the divisions & the infighting it's causing is nothing short of toxic.

It is time for fans to give their heads a wobble & to have a think about things.

My family has been involved with this club for about 150 years, when we were at the old town ground, in the Meadows I had ancestors who did voluntary work on both the construction & dismantling of facilities there & I have forebears who invested in stadium bonds so that we could move to the City ground.

I'm not saying this to be some sort of big-I-am, or to brag, or boast, I'm saying it to demonstrate how, probably like for many others, that this club is ingrained in my family history, entwined with my life, that it courses through me & has been a life long love affair.

We have had many ups & downs in my lifetime, I've seen relegations & promotions, good times & bad, heroes & villains, legends & Dumitru, but through out it all, above everything else, it's Nottingham Forest first.

We are meant to be a community, a band of brothers (& sisters, & Alf) supporting the club we love.

Supporting Nottingham Forest is meant to be a thing of joy, even in dark times, when results are going against us, because we are meant to be united in our support, united by our common history & united by our love & ambitions for this club.

With the air of toxicity & negativity around at the moment, with those hell bent on trying to cause dissent & disruption & to invent any reason possible to rail against this club, throwing their toys out the pram, inventing narratives to lash out at anyone & anything, it has become increasingly hard to maintain that loving feeling.

The fact that people have been trying to invent reasons to undermine the new manager, almost from day one, right down to blatantly inventing, or spreading bullshit is truly shocking & sad, not least when that man is a club legend, involved in some of our clubs greatest moments.

I don't know if he'll fail, or succeed, I can't see the future, if I could I wouldn't be here, & instead I'd be counting my money from winning the last 500 lotteries & deciding which player to buy next, but whatever the future holds I'd love to see us give it a chance, rather than trying to tear it down before it's started.

I get the reasons for some people's anger & frustration, but I'd beg of them, don't direct it vindictively at the new management team, they are not responsible for your ire, & don't inflict it on the rest of us, especially if the toxicity your pushing is built on inventions, innuendo, or baseless gossip.

If you feel like that take a break, have a think, recharge & regroup, instead of trying to tear it down & ruin it for the rest of us.

I understand there are concerns, there always has been, always will be & it's reasonable to discuss & debate these concerns, but that's not what's happening, what's happening is immature temper tantrums, toxicity & negativity that's leading to infighting & undermining the club, which is why, like you, I'm being made to feel uncomfortable & wanting breaks, & it should never be that way.

As I said yesterday, It is our job, nay our duty, to stand as a body behind these team, united as a metaphorical 12th man, strong in numbers, loud in voice to lift our men, our Forresters, our Tricky trees to the triumphs, heights & glories that we aspire to & deserve.

This is Nottingham, our city, our county & this is our game, our gift to the world, from the red shirts we gave to Arsenal & others, to the ground breaking tours that give inspiration to clubs in Argentina, Uruguay & Brazil, to the men who inspired & founded clubs in Milan & other cities, who strove to follow in the footsteps of the city of football, to the innovations in tactics & formations we provided, to the introduction of shinguard's, the referee’s whistle, goal nets, round goalposts, to the joy we have given to millions, for over 150 years.

We have been away from our rightful place for to long, so we can dwell on the past, if we wish, but if we do let us focus on glory years, on legends & inspirational managers, be they from the FA cup winning 50's, The real best team in England in the mid to late 60's, the miracle men of the 70's & 80's or for the younger generations the play off thrills of Hart, or Davies, but let us also always look to the future & make ourselves a part of our journey back to champions of Europe & inspiration for the world.

To be fair I don’t have a problem at all with NG3- just a different informed version of events regarding karanka. I won’t mention it again. And I will hold my hands up to the reaction after watching yesterday’s match. I agree that the team selection was done not to change a winning team too much and advocated osborne in a 433. It was a poor performance and hope O’Neill and Keane have learnt from this. I hope more than ever that these 2 can get us going. COYR

I thought you had me on ignore! ?Just to be clear - I dearly hope MON and Keane get us going. Fully behind them. Bonatini looks a good player and by some fluke the damage yesterday was minimal and 2 wins from top 6. We are capable of a run of games and we need it now. It’s unlikely but you never know.

A great thread - reassurance that there are some proper fans who really care passionately about our great club.
I took my 8 year old grandson to the game yesterday. He thoroughly enjoyed his day out ( as he always does - he has now had a season ticket/card for 3 seasons ). He is somewhat shaded from things sat in the BC Upper - but thank god that he is. We sat on the front row yesterday - after we discovered that our seats were not ‘available’. This was great news for him as he got an uninterrupted view of the game - if only some of our supposed fans would behave with a little more ‘decirum’. Yes I do understand that it is a mans game & people like to vent their feelings on a Saturday afternoon. But my grandson is one of our fans of tomorrow & hopefully for many years to come. He doesn’t need to hear the full throated rantings of a middle aged guy sat 2 rows back who utilises the full range of Anglo Saxon language in order to describe the failings of individual players ( he was fair minded though - not one Forest player escaped his wrath ).
Oh and whilst I’m at it I can’t believe the stick that Benny Osborn has received yet again post match on social media. It’s not his fault that every manager he’s played under has got confidence in him to do a job for the team. Not his fault that he is shifted around to fill a hole as required due to the squad being imbalanced, injuries or less disciplined players taking a break of a couple of weeks after needless suspensions. He will surely be off in the Summer ( and who could blame him ) - only then will his true value be understood.

I know this is the wrong thread but I wanted to reply because it annoys me that it seems yhere’s only two camps with Osborn. Either he’s useless or he’s great, been moved around all positions and is a vital asset.

Whereas can’t it be in the middle. Personally I don’t think he’ll be missed if/when he leaves and I think he’ll be the solid/average championship player he is elsewhere. I don’t think he’s useless though, clearly his versatility is useful and he has some really good games just sometimes his flaws come out too much.

But there isn't a 'rightful place'. It's a competition based upon results, not history or sentiment. There are probably forty clubs who's fans feel hat the Premiership is their 'rightful place' and sixty clubs who's owner think they are entitled to the TV money that comes with it.

The result is the ridiculous levels of expectation and expenditure and the 'short-termism' everybody bemoans.

We spent a few quid in the summer - adding a couple of quality players, raising the average standard and filling some gaps. We sold a lot of season tickets and, for a while. looked a decent side. The tantrums over the last few weeks are the sound of desperate people seeing a nailed on promotion slipping away. In truth, it was never nailed on, it was only ever a glimpse, and that glimpse slipped away two months ago.

If this side went up, it would be Huddersfield or, with massive expenditure, Fulham.

At the moment pour rightful place is the middle of the second division - pretty much where we've been for most of out history. We've shown that we're not smart enough to buy our way out of the division or appoint someone who might coach us up. How about if we just enjoy the football and relax a little bit. who knows, if the fans take the pressure off, the owners might even find the balls to play the long game, develop a few players and build something worthwhile.
