At the moment pour rightful place is the middle of the second division - pretty much where we've been for most of out history.

I can name you 50+ top flight seasons that say we haven't been in the second division for most of out history, & in fact, prior to our last exit from the top flight those 50+ seasons say we'd spent more time in the top flight than any other division & yes, it's a competition, so we do have to earn our way back, & I'm certainly not asking for short-termism, or TV money, but I still contend that, based on our contribution to the game, the top flight is our rightful place, it is where we should be & it is the future we should be striving for & as fans the future we should be contributing to & I don't think that has to produce ridiculous levels of expectation, or expenditure.

You say it's a competition, yes it is, but if we can't expect to attempt to strive for excellence then what is the point?

I'm old enough to remember re-selection, which produced some horrible teams, content with their lot at the bottom, with no ambitions, or expectations. I would never want to become like that, to confine our proud history to the dustbin, to see us nothing but 2nd class, & to lose all ambition.

We are not 2nd class, we are a top flight team, yes, we have to be competitive & prove that again, but we are a top flight team & it is not unreasonable to expect us to strive for such goals.

When you settle for 2nd best you become 2nd best. We are not 2nd best, we are Nottingham Forest.
