RBL offered him a contract when they signed Bondswell

The biggest carrot for young players is the pathway.
If Chelsea, City, etc struggle to hold on to them, then we'll have no chance.

The philosophy under Warburton was spot on, buying up and coming youngsters and blooding our own academy players. It seems now we have gone back 10 years in buying old journeymen only here for the £££.

It’s interesting comparing the strategy with Worrall and Yates. Ignoring that karanka didn’t like him for whatever reason, Worrall was still 4th choice behind figs, Dawson and fox. At the start of the season there was no guarantee he’d get many games. As it turned out he’d have played a lot but could’ve easily gone the other way. He’ll come back with a full season at a big club including some European games and maybe even a trophy (no idea if rangers are doing well in cups!)
Yates was also 4th choice DM and has barely played. Maybe we should’ve sent them both to rangers as a package deal

I agree, unfortunately the philosophy didn't for some reason permeate all the way through ie the club, owners, visionaries, scouts, coaches and MW all actually all singing from the same song book Seems it was only really a philosophy to the extent it created counter philosophies such as 'we need to try something differant', 'we need success now'

Just because he came through the academy doesn’t suddenly make him a better player. He had a poor finish to the season and karanka didn’t rate him. Personally felt his was a bit mistake prone, not against the loan at all. Think we’ll appreciate it next year, not recalling him when it’s was possible was the error.
I very much doubt he’d have gone into burnley’s first team if he’d signed. As for rangers well the Scottish league is pretty week. Not trying to devalue his position, imagine they’ll try and sign him in summer.
Personally I felt he had some really poor games last year and was a weak link in a clearly poor defence. I would’ve had him 4th choice, I don’t know what happened with him and karanka but under other managers I don’t think he’d have started. As I said it was an error not recalling him when we were clearly short at CB and now have an unnecessary extra CB on books because of it next year potentially. To add to this good to see Yates starting, big chance for him.

Ok firstly I wasn’t referring to Dyche or Gerrard when I said rose tinted glasses, I meant our fans. I feel like you’re twisting my words somewhat and taking things out of context. He’s a good young defender sure, my point was simply I felt the loan was a good move and that fans overrate him because he’s an academy product and because he’s not been here and we’ve looked poor.
I’m sorry if I was unaware he was carrying an injury. Was this for the entire season? As I said I would’ve put Fox Dawson figs above him. Rangers played in Europe and were knocked out. Valuable experience though.

I’m starting to think you’re trying to create an argument here. Why would Gerrard or Dyche have rose tinted glasses for a player they have no emotional attachment to? That’s literally the definition of the expresssion. Yes I think professionals see him at a certain standard hence being loaned out whereas fans rate him higher as they are emotionally invested in him. Can you tell me what’s behind this please as I’m pretty confused? I feel like it was a reasonable and rational point that I’m making
