The EFL have confirmed that, as far as they're concerned, Nottingham Forest are now England's (and presumably the world's) oldest league club.
I hope, and I don't think they will, that the club don't make a big song and dance about it. I think our history more than stands up for itself already.

So Stoke now have to change their shirts after they jumped the gun trying to get a bit of fame :D

If the Sadpies come back up what happens then?
Technically speaking they will be the youngest football league club not the oldest one.

It will make a nice addition to some promotional material, but if you try to make it a big thing then the worse it is if and when County get promoted!

Not sure its something we should make too much of a fuss about really, the knocking of Stoke’s history seems a bit mean spirited to me, most clubs were founded relatively informally with few records kept of early matches etc.
If County go back up, yes they probably are the oldest. And the same goes in the unlikely event of Sheffield FC getting 5 promotions to the EFL they are older than everyone. Maybe more likely then either is Wrexham who I didnt realise were founded in 1864 could take the title too with promotion from the National league.

I would like to see us erect some kind of sign in the Peter Taylor Stand car park.
Something along the lines of 'welcome to the City Ground the worlds oldest Football League Club'.
Why not? I don't want anything on our shirts though.

I agree Duncan.
Is it not something to be proud of?
I think it is and we should milk any possible benefits from it.

I think we should just leave it for others to comment on. I have great sympathy for Notts despite their feelings towards us. Awful leadership from an egocentric owner is familiar! In other bad news for Notts the favourite for the takeover is the former port vale owner who could be even worse!
We have enough history to be proud of...
