(This post was last modified: 29-06-2019, 09:43 AM by Sniffer Dog (Admin).)
After sleeping on the news yesterday and assimilating what has come out, then reflecting on the past 20 years I am livid-with the players.
(A) A bunch of overpaid 2nd tier players, not fit to lace the boots of MON or RK are moaning about preseason being to hard...didums. Off to Spain and Greece for some of it you spoilt primmas.
(B) Yes we have had issues with owners, lack of investment at key times and poor managerial appointments (to put it mildly), but the recurring poisonous theme is the fact that we almost always have a core of senior players who are nothing of the sort, they are just old, 2nd tier journeyman who should cast no influence over our club other than on the pitch. Billy may have been nuts, but he brought Paul McKenna in as the senior Pro and whilst he could play a bit, he showed the rest of them how a senior Pro and professional athlete should be doing things.
I am livid and I don't care who it is or how good they are meant to be I want this rotten core removing from my club, otherwise it is irrelevant who is appointed now or in the future.

So who are these players?
I have seen Geddy's name mentioned by Daniel Taylor, who else?

That's also one of my points, it's same stuff different names over the years. Likes of Rogers (alledgedly) through to today. (Geddy is obviously exposed, but he won't be alone). I have an idea but it would only be guessing so unfair. I also think large squad is leaving managers exposed as there is bound to be some bitching when not getting a game.

The timing doesn’t make sense with Geddy.

Totally agree. Player power is a very dangerous disease. I’m really surprised that this current owner has pandered to it especially as the names I’ve heard are senior rather than regular. I heard it was Geddy, Murphy, Grabban and Dawson.
They have to be sorted.

Do you honestly believe Murph was involved?
That's his gravy train over.

the greek looks disgusting for instigating it, but, we know nothing, probably all fake story and the real reason is probably even more farcical. I probably wouldn't accept any sacking scenario with Martin and Roy as they did have good integrity towards the club. But maybe if he hadn't won for 10 games it would be sort of justified.
The thing i hate is they were all just getting to know one another, if they could of worked through it, which i am sure would of happened, the club would of come out of stronger.
All the work and progress is undone, go back to Old Kent Road, Do not pass go and do not collect £200.
There is a recurring theme, Warbs, Kwanks and M o N all relatively decent guys, all treated like total sh1te.
The club seems spineless, fake and total lack of integrity, i need to feel proud and passionate and this might not happen for a while.

Can I just ask how do we know it was ‘player power’ responsible for the sacking. I’ve seen so many names supposedly responsible, if these players aren’t at fault, and I have seen nothing to prove that they are, just rumour and conjecture then surely it is not good for these players to be abused on social media, I mean there not exactly going to want to pull up trees are they?
It looks to me as if the hierarchy decided a while ago to start looking for a new manager, they were slated for the long drawn out debacle with A K so acted swiftly and decisively before any money was spent on transfers the new manager might not want.
If the players had hounded out the manager I agree it leaves a sour taste in the mouth. It’s a sad fact of football these days that players do have some degree of influence. But if these rumours aren’t true and until there proven I think the slagging off has to stop.
It’s doing the club, the one we support no good whatsoever.

Neither is having 13 managers in 8 years though Redgirl.
If, the rumours about player unrest is true, what can be done about it? We are hearing far too often in this day and age about Managers getting the sack due to players falling out with their manager etc.
Players who do not do what they are expected to do, for example, cause problems further down the line. If, for example, one player is seen, by the rest of the squad, to have gotten away with not doing something they should've done, just, for example, Geddy not warming down after a match, despite being on the bench, then other players see him getting away with it and decide in the future, they won't warm down afterwards because they had been an unused sub, what then? The club finds itself in a situation whereby it has a system in place at all times, but players are allowed to misuse that system. That system is then deemed to have been a waste of time!
There is the rumour of another player being disciplined for turning up late for the team bus. Is this excusable? No, it isn't. The bus has been scheduled to leave at a certain time for a reason. What next? a player turns up at the ground after kick off and expects to get dressed and stroll onto the pitch part way through a game?
At the end of the day, players have a responsibility to do what the club asks of them. They are paid well enough to do that right? The manager is the clubs representative to do the asking, in the best interests of the club, right? So if players decide that they will or will not do something against the express wishes of the club, then that players decision is not in the best interests of the club is it? It isn't in my opinion anyway.
Yes, players should be able to question decisions made by the manager, if they feel it would benefit anyone or it wouldn't work. But there is a right way and a wrong way to go about things. Remember the famously Cloughie quote? " A player would come into my office complaining about something, we would sit, we would talk about it for 20 minutes, then we would agree that I was right".
Managers need to be better protected from player disruption otherwise in another 8 years, will we have reached the 30 managers in 16 years headline in the papers, with still no stability at the club and still languishing in the Championship? For me, a manager should be sacked for poor results, inappropriate behaviour, which could be anything, not just football related, or for bringing the clubs good name and integrity down. He should not be sacked because certain players don't like being told off for doing something wrong, or they didn't like having to run up Wollaton Hall hill on a warm sunny day.

RG, the story was broken by Danny Taylor who isnt the sort of journalist that needs to write some made up drivel in order to get a few titter clicks. He will certainly have had a source from inside the club. A bit curious though is that his story was clearly prepped and ready to go when Martin was sacked indicates the club deliberately leaked it to him as if this is the narrative the hierarchy wanted to put out.
The only player named is Gueddy with regard to a specific incident, all other names are speculation. It doesnt reflect well on us though does it and we’ve been here before. The thought does occur that it is the problem with having a bloated squad as we currently do. There will always be a significant number not in the matchday 18, they get together and go and whinge to the owner about the manager. I wish the reply to them was “try harder or leave”.

Totally agree. Although I have calmed down a bit, I worry about the current culture in the dressing room. Doesn't seem to matter who the manager is.

As someone that is regularly late for work I have to say being disciplined seems a bit harsh! Sure if it’s consistently causing an issue but being 5 mins late isn’t going to make much difference right?
