Window Closed, Bigger Squad But Is The Club Serious About Promotion?

Oliviera I do think we missed a trick with, providing he would've wanted to come back of course. Roofe went for £7m didn't he? That feels a bit much. Wells on loan probably would've been possible - QPR managed it again.

We had more than enough chances to get Oliviera back over the last eighteen months, that's if we wanted him; Roofe was far too expensive and does anyone honestly think Leeds would sell to us; Wells would not suit our style of play.

One of the points I was trying to make in my review, but without mentioning it was FFP, what I was trying to get at, that limited amount of players we brought in had resale value and wouldn’t help us with FFP if needed.

I had also put many names forward as striker options on the Transfer thread.

It is what it is, we will be looking at another big turnover of players next summer for whatever league we are in. EPL, championship of League one ;)

Leeds sold their best defender to a promotion rival in the championship

after saying that I wouldn’t have spent the £5m anderlect paid for his services. Strange deal that

Taken from the thread tital:

''Is this club serious about promotion''?

Is that some kind of joke? Do you think our owner is here just to fanny around and to pour 100's of millions of his own money into the club just for the fun of it?

The title of the thread is obviously flippant. Nobody doubts the owners intentions.

The question I would pose is “Does this club have a coherent strategy for promotion?”

Being someone who reads a lot and who talks a lot in football circles that is not true unfortunately.

Controversial Duncan! I assume you mean owners who are just in it for the money, but surely the only way to really get money is to get promotion regardless? Unless it is about asset stripping, thankfully EM has committed to keeping the City Ground (I was confident his heart was in the right place anyway).
The bullet I am glad we dodged in hindsight was the american consortium, forgot his name but I got the impression he couldnt wait to sell the ground off.

And the answer IMO would be "no"

And you know what? I can live with that if we just stop the bullshine PR spin that we're top contenders, and act accordingly.

Give a (good) manager for a few years to build a proper side, stop flogging academy players, and give us a team we can be proud of & develop a connection to.

It's not all about the Prem. The Championship is fun. What is annoying though is starting every campaign knowing that in a few months time it'll be all change again, and the 2nd half of the season will be a pointless reshuffle & game of catchup for the Nth year running.
