I loved the idea of MoN being our manager and was appalled when he was sacked but now, in hindsight, I've got to say that we took a step back with his football last year. We went from being a well schooled and organised side to being one who just went out on the pitch and tried to out-battle teams to get results. We were playing basic football that was lacking in strategy and finesse.

Contrast MoN's football to this season. It's like night and day. The on-pitch organisation that AK introduced to us has returned and with it some fairly sophisticated football. Sabri has taken no time at all to realise how the talent of Watson might be deployed to good use after both AK and then MoN had abandoned him. He's been decisive by rejecting 2 keepers (Pants and now Muric), and seems to have got Grabban motivated again. Using Dawson's return to bring the best out of Worrall is a masterstoke too. As for the rest, I just think modern footballers at our level just need to be told exactly what to do - they are incapable of playing from instinct and don't have the intelligence to make decisions on the pitch themselves. I suspect they are responding to Sabri because he let's them know exactly what he wants them to do.

Excellent summary.

His organisational and planning has been first rate.

He has the team playing well and still has players he is bringing along like Bostock, Chema and the kids from the Academy.

We now have genuine strength in depth in a squad that has not gotten out of second gear yet.

Lots more to come from jadore lamouchi, really really warming to this guy. Favourite comment so far, and made me think our players will not be allowed to get away with mediocre performances was when he called their performance at Charlton s**t. The players are thriving on the pressure and standards he is setting, this year could really end well once this team gels.

We have had a glimmer of what we could be capable of in an attacking sense and the defense is spot on and well drilled.

It is interesting to note that Robbo spends a lot of time talking to SL during matches, which could fully support what you are saying with regards him telling them exactly what he wants from them

i think the utopian 21st Century Pro knows what they do well, are confident, probably over confident, not sure they need to be told exactly what to do, i don't think anyone can produce their best for a control freak.

The successful manager has the ability to sell their ideas and strategies, differing psychologies, but selling the idea to some players might involve the player thinking it was the players idea and that he actually is at the precise epicentre of entire footballing universe. 

However the sale is made, whether throttling them to death while screaming into his ear or pampering to the ego, horses for courses, but the player is motivated, buys in and the belief in the tactic gets compounded when the player knows all his mates are actually there to help him be better at what he has bought into doing.

Basically the manager instills arrogance into the players, whoever it is and how good they are, 'we will not get beaten today type arrogance'.  Confidence often gets shattered by conceding a goal or if it starts raining, this is what we have witnessed in many games over recent years, the quality and confidence but brittle. 

But the arrogance, the quality and of course, quality of players who buy completely, confidently and passionately into the cause, the manager, their team mates and own ability have been gradually increasing over recent seasons

I think Sabri Lamouchi realises he is part of a team, we assume he is at the precise epicentre of the entire Nottingham Forest universe, though i wonder if maybe SL knows he is dependent on dozens of others involved in this colossal ship, not that he will ever mention it, but views the whole starship enterprisesque galaxy as being built around him and for him.  It is all so big, huge, intergalactic even, it makes Sabri feel a bit more than confident.  You know that feeling when you are in the zone.

sorry Joe, just another failed attempt to become the ''precise epicentre of the entire footballing universe'' or maybe it was just a pathetic subconscious thought to integrate ''precise epicentre of the entire footballing universe'' into a conversation because it sounds galactically encapsulating and i am really trying hard not to use the word 'stratospheric' as it's the only genuine big word that pops into my head without having to think for millenia of light years, and yes, i have succeeded in proving, once again, i haven't got a f'king clue what i am talking about!  :)

I have total faith and trust in Sabri. Something just feels right about our current manager.

Sabri will have two weeks to work with the squad on the training ground after tomorrow's game with Preston, something he hasn't really had chance to do yet.
I bet he can't wait.

I know we have been here before, on numerous occasions and maybe it's partly bourne out of sheer desperation and hope.....but it does feel a bit different under Sabri. There again, someone did quite rightly point out our form going into last year's home game vs Preston was pretty impressive too. Still let's see where we are in the new year and I have to say I am thoroughly enjoying it at present.

I know people point the finger at Marinakis for being prima facie trigger happy but the fans really need to stick with Sabri if we have a bad patch because, surely, one is inevitable?

Of course. Rennes pulled the trigger on Lamouchi too early when they hit a bad patch according to their fans. We can't make the same mistake.
