Sammy is having a great season so far, I thought he would be playing second fiddle to Uncle Albert but is head and shoulders (literally and metaphorically) above him so far.

If he carries on like this he will clearly get a contract extension.

Starting to look like a quality signing just like Silva, Samba and Sow.

Ameobi must be a nightmare to play against, unpredictable and two footed.

He put in some pile driver shots that stung the keeper at least a couple of times leaving his marker for dead.

Physical, pacey, tall.  A player who can 'make things' happen or capitalise on a mistake.  Forest have always been on the receiving end of this type of player for too long.  Nice to have...

Robust but skilful players.  Tough but can play a bit.  Silva (a tough little cookie), Samba, Sow, Ameobi.  Players who are taller, more athletic, more physical more robust and have some amount of skill. That's an uptick in recruitment policy for the Championship. That's a sharp contrast to the previous Summer. Lessons have been learned to target the nature of the Championship in terms of the type of player required to get you out of this league.

Yates (taller than Watson) is quite a unit.  Worrall, a 'brick wall.'  Even Cash, though not a 'unit' is a tough and wiry customer.

The Forest side is far more robust and they can play 'a bit.'

He’s more of a Paolo Wanchope than an Asprilla.

That's the player I was thinking about re: Jim Smith's Derby.

Wanchope.  That's who Ameobi reminds me of.  A nightmare of a player to defend against.  Adds that element of power, pace and wiry unpredictability.

All from one transfer window.  Many teams wouldn't mind 4 players of that quality going into their squad.

Another January window with 2-4 players of that calibre and it will be definite top 2?

Couldnt believe he was taken off on Saturday. His ball retention ability was badly missed and imo that contributed the last 10 mins of pressure that the sheep had.

I bet they were so pleased to see the back.of hin.

Sabri brings him off at 70 mins in virtually  every game.

there has to be a reason - I’m guessing his outputs drop at that point. They measure everything these days.

I noticed that.  When he went off, Derby got back into the game.  He gives his all for 70 mins and then it's Car's chance to shine. Not bad, eh? Forest can bring a £13 million player on as a sub. We could only dream of such things a couple of years ago.

Sammy is an awesome weapon, great attitude shown by his willingness to take on hoards of opposing players and still emerge with the ball, usually gets a cross in or shot off at the end of it and pops up with goals as well. Definately deserves a rest after 70.

Concerned about Carv, i know some think he did ok for the last 20, i was disappointed, but could be more about Forest the last 20 mins, could be tiring, but putting offensive players on generally whether Mir, Albert or Carv, haven't worked amazingly, i think Robinson or Chema are better options, mainly because they can get stuck in but also quite mobile and can play a bit, which is really what personifies most of the squad.

I love his unpredictability. How can you defend against that?

Is turning out to be a fantastic signing for no outlay. Can look ungainly at times but causes lots of problems for other teams and is always back helping out the defence.

I remember him p!aying for a poor Bolton side against us at the WFCG mainly on the right wing but really all over the place. He caused us problems and embarrassed our left full back (can't remember who) a good few times. I thought then that I'd rather have him on our side rather than against us. Many have under estimated him. I like him both as a player and as a personality.

I can see beyond the ungainliness now. He holds the ball well, can dribble, can beat a man, can cross it and has the odd finish in him. What's not to like?

There was one bit last night which really summed him up: he produced some amazing skill to beat a man at the edge of their box, then stumbled and did a fresh air shot.

When he gets it right though he's a massive asset. Some of his assists this season have been top drawer.
